she 100% cooked her streaming numbers

nearly 900M streams first week without a smash hit? the autoplays must’ve went crazy

It was nice seeing her fakeness overshadowed by real cultural impact like sabrina, charli, billie and kendrick

With all this number talk can someone explain why Taylor swift’s last album had a 80% drop and no one cared?

3 months of pre-orders shipped out for its first week sales.

Your spreadsheets prove it spent 3 days straight outperforming Chromakopia and the only underperforming day was day 1. Dropped 6 hours later than Chromakopia. And was a surprise. And looks to be on pace to beat it when todays charts drop

    Cheers

people have been saying this since 2018 lmaooo

    ever since 2017/2018

Drake's apparently gonna sell less than normal next album
Kendrick's gonna sell more than normal next album

#1 kinda became true finally with FATD, after 6 years
#2 has never become true lol

Well, it didn’t “kinda” become true, his first week sales have dwindled with each release since 2017

there's literally posts from you this summer in this thread saying those Trav numbers are all legitimate bro

    Yes, they are

incredible numbers which are also hit by Tyler the creator, without all the industry sucking his cock like they have for Kendrick

    makes no sense

you either admit these are meh numbers, or admit that having a huge hit like NLU/winning beef did nothing for Kendrick's career

Half of the Tyler number was bundles.

Kendrick doing it with streaming alone is more impressive

I hate to give into the spreadsheet stereotype but since @fader and @Kr0niic are accusing me of lying about Chromakopia out streaming GNX so here's both of their Spotify numbers as proof.

This just means that Kendrick got 210M streams from the other DSPs and Tyler only got 90M additional

Spotify isn’t the only streaming service

What are you talking about. You’re comparing Kendrick’s 325m projected seven day total and Tyler’s four day total. Are you a complete moron.

You really saw Kendrick did 115m in the first four days on Spotify and said “Well he must have done 200m on other DSPs.” Is he going to do 0 streams on Spotify in the remaining three days then? Idiot

Not just that but Kendrick is playing the long game. Super Bowl and 2025 Grammys are coming up. Then GNX is eligible for the 2026 Grammys.

Next few years is gonna be tough for the haters

1st week sales are increasingly a dated metric to begin with, and increasingly lifetime sales matter more as the real metric of popularity. 291k is a really good number in a vacuum, but it is low in consideration of the year Kendrick’s had overall, his general hype, and the success of NLU (album or not). It doesn’t actually mean Kendrick underperformed though as much as it shows how much of a cultural vacuum the beef (and thus his hype cycle) actually existed in.
By comparison, just because we HAVE to make this comparison, everything else HNVM from Drake has done almost 1.5-2x sales from this. This is obviously without the context and hype Kendrick has had going into his album cycle (surprise drop or not) - I think the real lesson here is how little these cultural things actually affect material popularity to casual listeners (who drive the majority of music consumption).
Hype for artists is definitely measured more in lifetime residual sales now anyway. Everyone clowned Doja Cat’s first album’s first week album sales then she went on to sell like 50k-60k every week for more than a year - so who knows, it’s possible Kendrick could still be hyper-competitive sales numbers wise year-over-year.

so did 99% of artists because pure sales are down, the weeknd and kendrick incl lol

hence why comparing streaming units makes far more sense

    Wrong and wrong.

The Weeknd’s first week sales have went up and down his entire career.

And Kendrick’s sales have been pretty consistent his entire career, DAMN. was the only outlier.

Drake is the one who’s first week sales consistently dwindled since 2017

Nice way to flip a fact that kendrick hit his peak with DAMN and never returned. You could’ve said that drake hit his peak in 2016-2018 and those were the outlier years.

cope. its dog s*** numbers for an artist who just supposedly had a bigger year than drake

    • biggest rap beef of all time
    • biggest streaming year of his entire career
    • broke records for the biggest song in terms of streaming which Gods Plan once held
    • rick ross fat as s***
    • superbowl announcement
    • white elitist publications doing interviews
    • meat munchers the entire year talking about kendricks new album gonna shake the game
    • ASAP Rocky.

he just did Mr Morale numbers, on a year like this.

2 factors that COULDA HAVE caused this let down:

    1. Single/diss songs were actually botted and the streams didnt equal real demand

    OR

    2. The album was a let down and NEUTRAL fans didnt even bother listening to it.
