    Again, comparing rap to pop

it’s not about pop vs rap

    look at this chart

I’m not even making fun of Abel. I’m just confused about how he’s been so stagnant while the streaming industry has blown up like this

You don’t think it’s crazy that the biggest male pop artist of the decade hasn’t seen much growth in first-week streams, while everyone else has?

Man, I broke down the 100 biggest streaming weeks of all time by genre yesterday. Excluding Taylor Swift, who we all acknowledge is an anomaly in the music industry, it broke down as follows:

    Rap: 47/100
    Taylor: 14/100
    Pop: 14/100
    Country: 11/100
    Latin (all Bad Bunny): 8/100
    R&B: 4/100
    Dance: 1/100
    Gospel: 1/100

Also, he HAS grown on streaming globally. Y’all just keep hyper focusing on the US numbers

They simultaneously acknowledge that Drake is the king of streaming and also expect every other artist to stream as well as him. Make it make sense.

I was reading comments the other day about 4x4 going #1 and the only ones hating were Drake/hockey stans. I was just thinking, why is that a bad thing? I dont even listen to Travis or Weeknd but I still want them to win. If Travis gets a #1 that’s dope.

Drake has by far the most #1 hits no one is catching up to him yet hockey stans are the most obsessed and insecure when someone else gets a #1. I don’t get it man.

Now Views is a pop album. Y’all got it.

Yes, which is why he doubled back with More Life, which had A LOT more rap songs

He even said in an interview that he almost made Views a full pop album because whenever he tried to rap, he came off as angry and that's why there are so few rap songs on the album.

No, we just expect the Weeknd, who is one of the biggest artists in the US, to be able to grow as a streaming artist to be able to drop a 22 track album and have it amass more than 220M US streams, especially when dozens of other artists have been able to grow as streaming acts in the US.

The US first week performance of this album is projected to be 40K lower than his BEST US first week performance ever.

Reminder: he has NEVER surpassed 163K streaming units first week in the US.

Are you seriously tripping over 40K units man?

40k with 8 extra tracks, yes that is enough to "trip" about.

Day 6, songs in the top 20, US.
    Hurry Up Tomorrow: 2
    Dawn FM: 6
    AH: 4

How is this not a major fall off?

If the PND/Drake album flops this thread is gonna be wild lol.

It’s about time for some payback…Hockey stans been talking nonstop about streams and numbers for a decade. That PND weedplate better drop with at least 25 songs and do 500M streams fw.

    We ready

Now Views is a pop album. Y’all got it.

The songs responsible for its 1m first week are Hotline Bling and One Dance so I mean…

Literally half the tracklist is sung pop music

The most beloved song is Feel No Ways

The biggest deep cuts are Controlla and Too Good

  • Feb 6, 2025

He even changed the title from an archetypal hiphop album to a pop one right before release

I've never seen a fanbase as obsessed with streaming numbers as Drake’s. To the point where they hate on anyone who finds even a little success on the charts whether it’s Weeknd, Travis, or someone else.

Have yall really gone so far that you need to hate on anyone who doesn’t worship Drake? This thread was originally a Kendrick hate thread just because of MM’s streams. I’m not even a Travis or Weeknd fan but this sht really weird. Drake stans just cant stand to see anyone else win is wild.

Are some of yall really so insecure that you can’t let anyone else have even a little success? And this always comes from insecure Drake stans yall so obsessed with numbers that yall can’t let anyone else shine? Drake has 108 billion streams almost 50 billion more than the next closest artist. No one is catching him. Why yall so bitter and insecure smh?

Why yall say drake fans when you mean one user your clearly referencing who is posting above?

6* extra tracks. The two skits literally do not count towards streaming numbers since they are under 30 seconds.

You are losing your mind over a projected 40K difference from his peak. Remember that.

Y’all are so disingenuous regardless though. Even if the album did 200K in streaming first week and only sold 100K in pure sales, y’all would call that a flop too because people didn’t buy the physicals enough. The goalposts always move for y’all for anyone not named Drake

Ffs stop arguing with Drake fans

Weeknd albums have never streamed or sold well first

They stand the test of time

Drake is a hype artist. He hasn't had a stable hit since before 2020 lol
