Minus that, not to be that person but his recent momentum is all predicated on his beef with Drake. Kendrick isn't dumb for still riding the steam of the beef. He knows the power of the association with Drake, especially negatively and he's smartly used it to his advantage. He can't have yet another album era trying to use the momentum of dissing Drake to his own benefit. That'll be too obvious and he'll get called out on it.
Contrary to what most people think, it's very difficult consistently dropping albums year after year after year and scoring mega hits on each of those albums. That's why Drake's run is so unique. I don't think Kendrick is trying to become the next Drake because that'll require him giving up what he's been known to be. I think this has all been a crusade to prove he can also do what Drake does if/when he wants to. The next move will be to lean into what he does best, which is the introspective/conscious s***.
I agree with most of what you said but I don’t think his recent success is predicated on Drake as much as you’re giving credit. I think he’s rode the momentum and made a series of great moves coming off the beef combined with good music, similar to Drake in 2015
Majority of other artists would’ve fumbled this to hell
Even jimmy cooks went number 1
Eh, that's what they're supposed to say. That's why they tried pushing the "West Coast is up" narrative that we know isn't true because only Kendrick is up. It's an entire region trying to ride on Kendrick's coattails because he's hotter than he's ever been.
You think they'll ever go on any platform and suggest Kendrick will disappear? No. And maybe he won't but that's up to him, not any of them. Kendrick has always marched to the beat of his own drum. I don't see that changing now.
But Kendrick is also a hater.
Buried Alive was hating.
Control was hating.
His whole beef with Drake stems from hating.
Now he has had the most success he has ever had. Is there a possibility he doesnt want to give up his current position? Out of spite, out of hate.
I would be quite surprised if he just goes away for a couple. That move doesnt make sense.
If he wanted Drakes position he has to go again... just like Drake been doing for the last 15 years.
do we have sales projections on this? i expect it’ll be pretty low since collab albums always sell less

But its second day dropped 45% on US Spotify. Only 16million streams, worse than honestly never mind with even 7 more songs
Not a single song in top 8
Globally only 2 songs in top 50, and HUT did double the streams on day 2
Vultures 1 did more streams its first and second day and did 148k streaming

okay so we’re looking at a strong 75-80k unless there’s a deluxe thing

I still expect it to break 200k with Apple Music + they have cd’s they are shipping

My man let me tell you if this thing sells 75k..

Last year he was just fresh off a world tour
Yall are a mess omg. But I see some of you are being light hearted with the drags on both sides which i find way more enjoyable than in the past. Progress is happening.

It won't. It has physicals. That'll probably be just the physicals themselves

Don’t worry fellow drake fans.. if Kendrick never begged drake for attention his next album would have flopped like mr morale. We wouldn’t even be discussing him lol
Kendrick will always be able to do numbers
he’s LITERALLY a legend.
If Mr Morale numbers are the low point for him, then all that means is that he has the ability to grab massive attention just off the strength of his legacy.
At any time these guys are capable of outselling their worst selling project so I don’t understand the hysteria whenever one of them doesn’t light the charts on fire
It won't. It has physicals. That'll probably be just the physicals themselves
At the very least it should burgeon to around 200K
Anything less will be interesting
Forreal tho this going 250k. It’s still strong on Apple Music
If this actually gets 250k I don’t understand all this fuss when that was literally around the expected result
