iHypeLmao. The issue is the discussion would go from “sales don’t matter” when they didn’t like the data then suddenly ready to discuss how “damn outsold more life” when they did like the data.
Both sides were toxic and trollish but some people like you just absolutely refuse to admit it and pretend it was completely one-sided which is the issue.
Also it’s funny af cause again the other side also used any and everyone the could to bring down Drake sales when it was convenient.
They were saying Post Malone replaced Drake, saying Bad Bunny replaced Drake, etc. The anti-Drake fans also completely ruined sales talk because they could never just congratulate someone and their numbers without trying to push a narrative that would only create drama
You are completely missing context and nuance.
Nobody has ever said or meant “sales don’t matter” as a blanket generalized statement. The full statement is “sales don’t matter when talking about music quality”. Which still and always remains true. Only Drake stans have ever suggested otherwise.
I have rarely if ever seen anyone say that those Post Malone albums that sold well are BETTER than Drake albums. Just that they sold well. It’s an entirely different fully sales-based conversation, outside of talking about the music itself.
But Drake Stans always imply the music is garbage if it DIDN’T sell well (when it comes to anyone but Drake, of course), which is the entire reason for the response “sales don’t matter”.
If I was to say to any of you “CLB is trash”, you would hit me back with excel charts on its streams and sales instead of talk about what you actually like about the music if you have a different opinion.
Y’all are the ones that always try to equate sales to music quality so of course when Drake flops, people would like to see you stay consistent in your narratives. But you never do.
