And it gives the album some new life I suppose. It's technically a brand new release on streaming, so people who listen to the guy will get notified he just dropped something.
It makes more sense if you do a deluxe monthsss later with actual new songs, or just save the scraps for a 10th anniversary release or something like Cole did with 2014 Forest.
Just releasing a few more songs a few weeks later always been kinda dumb to me. At that point the album’s success is written and why you didn’t just add them from the get go?

Because that would only boost the first week. The whole point is to give it a boost in the second week when the numbers start to organically drop off

Nope, just pointing out the hypocrisy. The album with fewer tracks and a smaller drop in week 2 is considered a flop but the album with more tracks and a bigger drop in week 2 is considered a massive success.
