By MY definition it’s a little hyperbolic to call a guy whose spent 56 weeks at #1 on the Hot 100, and 1 week at #1 on the Pop Airplay chart, a pop radio darling. What’s your definition?

That one week was for ONE DANCE, btw. A TEN WEEK NUMBER ONE HIT

    Sounds about right for rappers

I'm not calling him a pop icon, hes just the pop radio darling of the rappers and has been for awhile

That’s a different statement and it’s also not really true anyway. Cardi and Doja off a quick search have him wiped down in this specific category. Cardi has 11 weeks at #1 on Pop radio and Doja has 26

Drake is a bigger rap artist than both of them.

Money Trees is very close to surpassing Rottenfruit and will probably do so by the end of next week or within 10 days.

Humble is also performing well and is expected to surpass Gods Plan b4 the year ends.

Goosebumps is set to become Kendrick’s first track to reach 3 billion streams followed closely by All The Stars and both are nearing that mark.

NLU has a good chance of hitting 2B streams by the end of the yr and Luther prolly gon be right under it.

Kendrick is set to break records across the board

It’s literally wrong. He hasn’t been a “pop radio darling” in a decade and even his biggest hits at the time weren’t being spun on pop radio as much as they should’ve been.

Niggas love being loud and wrong about Drake. He gets so little airplay from pop radio despite being so popular and having so many hits that Rolling Stone had to write an article about it back in 2018.

And you think Doja has been on pop radio more in total than Drake?

Drake has 1 song that's reached #1 on pop radio and that was ONE DANCE and it only spent 1 week at #1. Doja Cat has 8 songs that have reached #1 on pop radio and they've spent a combined 25 weeks at #1. Doja Cat blew up in 2020 btw, 11 years after Drake blew up lmao.

But yeah, Drake is a total pop radio darling

At least he sold more first week than Selena Gomez ❤️

  • The only formats Drake gets any sort of real airplay is Rhythmic and Urban radio. Pop radio mostly abandons his music, doesn't matter even if he services legitimate pop songs to the format. They never do well on there for whatever reason.

Pop radio has NEVER f***ed with Drake. Never.

The fact that he's been able to dominate the charts the way he has despite getting zero love from pop radio (which is the format with the most audience impressions and the format you have to dominate to have you songs have real longevity on the charts) is a testament to how powerful he is as an artist.
