ngl i feel like it was the exact opposite

U think Drake thought it would just be an album cut and not a hit? Idk man

Somebody Loves Me was the original pushed song.

The other 2 took off on their own and had no choice but to be pushed to be fair.

Also, Somebody Loves Me is in the top 10 of US Apple Music and is getting a push on radio. It just hasn't performed as well on Spotify and that's why it's charting poorly.

I forgot he was pushing gimme a hug when the album dropped damn, but its crazy there is a possibility Drake didn't see the hit potential of Nokia in the first place

Drake is horrible with knowing the hit of the album nowadays.

    • They pushed Don't Matter to Me when Scorpion dropped just for In My Feelings to bury it.
    • They pushed What's Next when Scary Hours 2 dropped just for Wants & Needs to bury it.
    • He did a video for Falling Back when HNVM dropped just for Jimmy Cooks/Sticky to bury it.
    • Slime You Out was the SZA collab they had as a ready single for FATD and not damn Rich Baby Daddy,

Only bad thing about him becoming his own boss post Scorpion is the horrible single choices and questionable album rollouts.

Sometimes an artist can have slightly too much control.

Slime You Out before an album release is something only a man with too much power would do

He also got it right with God's Plan, Nice for What and Laugh Now Cry Later but yeah, that's about it for the last 7 years lmao.

I think the main reason for that has been him prioritizing full-length project releases over singles, post-Scorpion.

He'd do his due diligence and pick one song to shoot a video and drop that when the album dropped but then that'd be about it and any other songs that actually took off post album release would get ignored for the most part.

He's able to get away with that s*** because he's always been more of an album artist than a singles artist but if for no other reason, I hope him seeing Kendrick score like 5 back to back hit singles in under a year inspires him to start taking pushing and promoting his singles seriously again. That's always been something that made Drake's impact that much more undeniable. It was always a bad idea to stop caring about that.

Especially when you're someone like Drake who doesn't have a rabid fanbase who will blindly support whatever you drop

    .

Drake doesn't drop bad music. Never has. The worst thing Drake can do is put out music that's not up to the high standard he's set with the music he's released in the past and even when he doesn't meet that standard, the music he drops is still great.

In the same f***ing post lmao s***'s hilarious

Funny how the same users posting paragraphs are the ones saying Drakes new album would flop cuz it’s common sense lol. Y’all back on now, support your fav artists thru and thru. Look at the first pages of this thread lol not one Kendrick fan called MM a flop or downplayed it.
AND it still did numbers in the long run

It already is imo. It's already one of those timeless Drake summer tunes people will be playing for years and years to come.

Drake stans talk about NOKIA the way Kanye stans talked about CARNIVAL last year
