Come on now, let's not downplay Back 2 Back's moment

They letting Kendrick’s W rewrite history. There’s a reason that Kendrick referenced Back to Back on euphoria, because he was hinting at Not Like Us being his version of that.

Back to Back was easily way bigger than euphoria

I have never met a black person who thinks Drake won

Lol Meek fumbled in the moment, worse than Cole tbh cus Meek with the dreads really used to battle

I am not. I'll stand corrected. Back to Back as a stand alone song was a bigger moment than Euphoria.

It is very hard for me to separate Euphoria from that week of disses so I am comparing that collection of moments (I am seeing it as one thing in my head) to B2B and that is definitely bigger.

Nah it’s cause he sampled Teddy Pendergrass and Al green’s “back to back” record for Euphoria and 6:16 in LA.

When he said “imma get back to that for the record” he was talking about 6:16 which sampled Al green, Teddy was sampled in euphoria.

Not Like us was written within the 12 hours after he heard Family Matters.

That 2015-2016 period was really a Goldilocks zone for Drake, which is funny because the charts don't even tell the whole story about that particular song

Yeah, that’s one of those pre-streaming examples of a rap song that was way bigger than the charts reflected

Not at all. It just went over your head. Not like us wasn’t even created or thought of when Euphoria dropped.

  • Apr 24, 2025

Also, I don’t think all of Not Like Us was recorded after Family Matters. A few lines for sure and it was probably tweaked after FM, but I think the skeleton for the song was always there

No, it’s a stretch. He wasn’t hinting at the title of the compilation record that the two samples appear on

He was hinting at coming back to drop a bomb on his head, same way Drake did with Meek

lol what you said is 100% true. Al Green/Teddy have a record called Back to Back and he sampled the next drop right after

Also, 6:16 and MTG dropped between Euphoria and NLU.

We not gonna revise history lmao

We gotta remember that, before streaming took over in 2016, hip-hop wasn’t really represented well on the Hot 100.

For a diss song with no music video to make it all the way to #21 back in 2015, that was huge. That song was definitely a cultural moment, and that’s exactly why Kendrick referenced it on euphoria, because he was hinting at his own Back to Back with Not Like Us.

If the Meek beef happened during the streaming era, Back to Back 100% debuts at #1

    good points

There is no universe where Meek Mill won that beef. Niggas can’t even remember the name of the song he dropped

Yeah bro he sampled Teddy Pendergrass and Al greens record “back to back” on Euphoria and 6:16 LA but it’s just a coincidence lol

None of us know for sure, it just makes the most logical sense that he was referring to Not Like Us since that was the track most akin to Back to Back.

There is a 0% chance that all of Not Like Us was recorded after Family Matters released

Pretty much the entire Not Like Us references family matters. It’s pretty obvious he made that s*** within the 12 hours that he heard family matters

    No, he did not.

Teddy and Al have a compilation album called Back to Back Hits.

euphoria samples You’re My Latest, Greatest Inspiration by Teddy Pendergrass, and 6:16 in LA samples What a Wonderful Thing Love Is by Al Green.

Neither of those songs are on the Back to Back Hits compilation album.

Mustard said he sent him that beat ages ago, I’m more inclined to believe that he had the skeleton for the song, maybe the hook and a verse or two, then he went to tweak it and update it after FM dropped.

There is a 0% chance the entire song was written & recorded from scratch, mixed, mastered, and uploaded all in 12 hours

Mustard sent him the beat in April sometime.

How is NLU back to back when 6:16 dropped and then MTG dropped before NLU?
