When you train your audience to passively consume this is the result
Yeah, because having fans who buy enough physicals for an artist to move 70k vinyls in one week but don't continue to stream the albums they bought are better than people who stream your music for years and years lmao.

This argument would work if artists were compensated properly for their high streaming numbers, but they aren’t.
You can pretend like lazily streaming an album is on par with spending money (actual, tangible support) for a physical copy if that makes you feel better.

Any artist on the planet would rather have 100K fans buy a physical copy than they would have 100K fans stream a song. You just d***ride streams because that’s where Drake dominates.
Taylor Swift is not the biggest artist in the world because she outstreams everyone, she’s the biggest artist in the world because she has millions of fans that regularly and routinely support her by buying physical copies of her work en masse

It also confuses me the prestige placed on streaming numbers since they’re apparently so easily manipulated and gamified but that would require consistency and standards… we know that doesn’t exist in this thread.
yea alright nigga
instead of d***riding foreign celebrities for free, you can do this too by using that energy on something productive

i mean its like if applebees sold pizzas lmfao its gonna take a full album cycle to even train his fans to buying vinyls because for so long bro just didnt make any. barely any physicals, merch not tied with albums etc
very unfair comparison imo, for someone who literally trained the entire world to use streaming opposed to physical media, kinda makes sense

It all boils down to the terms of your contract. If you have a f***ed up record deal, you won't make nearly enough money from your music whether via physical/digital sales or streaming.

And yet artists will ALWAYS make more through physicals sales regardless of how f***ed up a contract is
