Apple music audience skews more towards hip hop and he has a lot of albums to split the streams between
I understand that, but the math still doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.
He has zero songs with a billion streams on Apple Music. He only has 5 songs out of the Top 500 on Apple Music, the highest being at #211.
Where is the difference of 48 billion streams coming from?
Spotify has 2.5X more paid subscribers globally and more paid subscribers in US as well.
On top of that Spotify has free users which Apple lacks, right now it’s not even close.
Apple music has 112M subscribers globally/ 32M in US.
Spotify has 680M (270M Paid, 410M Free) globally, 160M in US (55M Paid, 105M Free).
lol but your fellow aubots bringing up kendrick unprovoked every other comment isn’t?
You're forcing it. Relax and take a deep breath.
the whole spotify is bigger than AM argument always confused me cus drakes streaming ratio is 60/40 in favour of Apple Music every release since scorpion
so if drake got 120bil on spotify, hes at like 180bil on AM at the same ratio
apple music prob a lot bigger then we think now that i seen yb manager post that
AMs benefit used to be that it concentrated streams on hiphop/r&B, whilst spotify spreads their streams way more across every genre
It's why you had Summer Walker doing Bieber/Ariana Grande 1st week stream numbers for a few albums in like 2018

It does, because AM users are probably like 90% hiphop listeners
Spotify listeners are probably only 10-20% hiphop listeners
and there's barely any hiphop artists
which means you have say 32m users that are 90% listening to the same 100~ artists
also AM used to greatly prioritise new music, a lot higher than Spotify did, so him only having 1 1b+ streamed song isnt a shock

"One label insider reports that Walker’s Apple streams are about four times as big as her Spotify numbers." and that's R&B. she was doing bieber/ariana numbers off this

It mathematically makes absolutely no sense.
His highest streamed song is the same on both platforms. On Spotify it has a billion streams, and on Apple Music it has nowhere near that.
You’re telling me the rest of his catalog is making up a difference of 48 BILLION streams when his most popular song on the service doesn’t even have 1? The math is not mathing

Yes, this is in the US. We’re talking about global Spotify numbers vs. global AM numbers

well yeah, rappers have never got many numbers from outside US, unless you're releasing pop rap like drake/ye

Morgan Wallen is exactly the same btw, he does like 4x better on AM than Spotify
pre his latest anyway

Idk about 48 billion but it makes sense he did more on apple.
Look at a yb album first week streams on billboard then look his first week streams on US Spotify
YB did about 5 billion streams each year from 2020-2022 in US all platforms.
