any discussions about charts here are going to run into a wall because there's this 38 year old biracial jewish man and let's just say people here have a LOT of opinions about him.
if you think about it, there is not a single conversation where his specter is not lurking ominously in the background, waiting for his name to be brought up.
And this exact thread was made to prop him up and s*** on everyone else so it was pretty natural progression
Drake dropped DLDT in 2020 and then SH2/CLB in 2021 not to mention like a dozen features, when HN, a dance album dropped, niggas were celebrating because it did 204k. They didn't wanna hear that it was a surprise dance album or that Drake had dropped a s*** ton of music already the previous months.
Their logic was: a new Drake album SHOULD do monster numbers just off of Drake's name. Those same people declared Tyler a superstar with Chromakopia but now they have every excuse in the book already lined up to explain why this album isn't matching the success of Chromakopia
It's all so hilarious because I think the album will debut with even higher numbers once the tracking week is done but they're doing the exact same thing they criticized some Drake fans for doing and I'm just calling that out.
Thats cuz the goal post always has to move when Drake is involved.
"It's all fun and games till i wanna play too"

As long as we have thegreatdivine on here it will never change
@fader
Look at this dumb post lmao this is why nobody should discuss with that toddler. Just straight up lying and putting words in your mouth that are not true
I genuinely don’t understand why y’all quote that dumbass lol
Buddy not even in the U.S and thinks he’s some sort of authority on what artists are popular here
Right, but that’s not what’s being asked. Divine is saying artists have complete control over how their music gets categorized on DSPs. We’re showing her that’s clearly not the case if a song like One Dance is categorized as a rap song
I see.
Yeah but the first few days everyone was apparently listening, for whatever reason
to a f***ing playboi carti single of all things
The hype surrounding it was enormous.
Nobody would’ve cared about the Clipse album without the massive rollout they had lmao
Clipse rollout wasnt anything other people havent dont recently.

They did like 10-20 interviews and was everywhere lol

it was really like 3 but they got chopped it up on some dj vlad s***
Why hasn’t the first jackboys been certified platinum?
Labels have to pay to have RIAA update plaques. Its probably eligible now or close.
Travis should also add original HITR then it could push 2x plat.

Other people have done that.

In rap, not really. They did a full, months long traditional media rollout. Can’t remember the last major rappers that have done that for an album. Kendrick didn’t, Carti didn’t, Tyler didn’t, Travis didn’t, Drake never does, Cole doesn’t, etc.

I do know that but back a few months ago April 29th to be exact they updated his catalogue I was hoping they would do it then but I see why now
interested to see how the new tyler album performs stream wise the rest of the week.
Are the vinyls being counted/shipped this week?

its at least gold eligible though they just didn't update it i guess. A lot of labels won't do gold plaques for big artists.

they’re in their mid 40s, interviews is how albums were rolled out in their prime
it was really like 3 but they got chopped it up on some dj vlad s***
nah, like they legit did 15+ interviews bro lmfao. you can look up each one over the last 3 weeks
Other people have done that.
name me the last artist to sit on 10+ entities leading up to their album in the last 2-3 years? lmfao
most just do a billboard interview and another major entity then keep promoting their album on IG/Twitter
Wait a second
This is projected to sell more than another surprise dance album with only 4 days of tracking????? Oh wow?!?
@thegreatdivine @quadra @illegalnecessity @Zackbrah
Drake LOST
Yeah because we’re heavily into traditional rap but the reason why it did over 100k was because of the good rollout
People tapped in and talked about it the whole week on social media
The moral of the story is that if you make high quality music and put yourself out there the music buying public can still respond positively.

On top of that they did 3 exclusive deals with merch that most rappers nowadays wouldn’t and had actual prints like old school magazines. The colors show the tiny desk etc. they honestly cleared every checklist
