No, this entire example makes no sense.
Your argument is basically saying “well, Doja does rap sometimes, so that makes her a rapper”. That’s not what we’re saying.
We’re saying she DOES rap, she IS capable of rapping, and she HAS songs where she’s rapping on them, but that DOESN’T make her a rap artist.
In the same way that Drake has several dancehall songs, but Drake is not a dancehall artist.
In the same way that Lil Wayne released Rebirth, but Lil Wayne is not a rock artist.
In the same way that Young Thug has Beautiful Thugger Girls, but Young Thug is not a country artist.
I don’t think my friend who makes rap on SoundCloud is exactly a rapper either because he can and does rap on occasion
So is Kanye a basketball player?
I don't follow him like that since around the TLOP era but if he plays basketball then yeah. I don't give a f*** if it's at a charity event, the NBA, LA Fitness, at his house. Anyone who plays basketball is literally a basketball player. I don't get what's hard to understand. Doja Cat is a rapper
No, that dude’s actor equivalency was terrible and has no correlation to this conversation. No one is arguing that Donald Glover isn’t an actor
Exactly we agree he's both just like Doja is both rap and pop

That’s not the same thing whatsoever. I don’t understand how you’re failing to grasp that

Okay, you’re being technical for the sake of being technical and not understanding the actual argument we’re trying to make.

You're the one being technical and I'm keeping it simple. The whole point of labeling something in a genre is to make it easier to understand and you're overcomplicating it. If I rap I'm a rapper that's not something you can debate. How is this hard to get
just say you hate women and go on with your life
Stop buying into the victim narrative

I’m not being technical at all. You’re being dense and purposefully obtuse.
We’ve said numerous times we’re not talking about the actual act of rapping in and of itself, what is so hard to grasp about that
Yall niggas still talking about this lmao
Dawg I went to bed at like 3:30 last night and it’s now 9 and they are STILL TALKING ABOUT IT
Am I crazy or am I being gaslit right now? Someone tell me
Basically Doja raps and so I said she's a rapper but someone says she's not. it's like me saying the sky is blue and some dude comes in saying "technically it's not actually blue" sure ok it's not always blue if you want to argue semantics and get scientific but it was blue today and it will be blue tomorrow so I'm not wrong for calling the sky blue

No you’re just dumb. I just stumbled into this thread and have only read this page and can see that you’re wrong lmao. Just because you do something 1 time or even a couple times, that doesn’t mean that’s your title.
I’ve changed the oil on my car, that doesn’t make me a god damn mechanic lmao

I think you should go back and read the entire discussion. My point was that black artists can't be put in one box like "rapper" or "popstar" when they evolved so much in today's music industry you got acts doing multiple things
And you're comparing apples to oranges. Basketball is a sport anyone could do just like art and rapping is something anyone could do. Mechanics require some research and a lot of practice so that's not a good comparison. If you change your oil often enough and start fixing other things on your car you would become a mechanic but one oil change isn't a mechanic

So if I played basketball one time, that makes me a basketball player?
If Taylor Swift came out tomorrow as a feature on a song with a rap verse, is she now a rapper too?

This s*** started on like page 443
Over 70 pages about whether Doja Cat is a rapper or not
So if I played basketball one time, that makes me a basketball player?

Definitions of basketball player. an athlete who plays basketball
Yes you were a basketball player if you played once. I only go to the gym twice a month and I'm still a basketball player but if I only went once I'd still be a basketball player there's no limit. If Taylor dropped a decent verse there's no reason she couldn't become a rapper too. It might be hard and take some time but she could prove herself like Drake was an actor and now he's a rapper too

No, calling someone a title like that implies they are actively doing it or doing it as a profession.
Just cause I played basketball one time in my backyard 10 years ago doesn’t mean you can call me a basketball player now.
And you didn’t answer my question, you said she could become a rapper. That’s not what I asked. Yes she could become a rapper, she could completely switch genres and release nothing but rap verses from here on out and yes, then she would become a rapper.
But if tomorrow she had one rap verse and then went back to make the same music she always made… maybe once a year she releases a rap verse as a joke or gimmick or something, does that make her a rapper? No it does not.
Can we go back to talking about kendrick flopping
Who is Kendrick do you mean midrick?
