    Damn this is nuts

25 went diamond just over 10 months after its release. Adele's debut album, 2011's 21, took nearly two years to hit diamond. But in an era of streaming and file sharing, just going platinum is a landmark achievement.

What’s hoopy about it? Newer fans = Younger people, younger people have the new habit of buying stuff online. (Most people do in general now actually)

Any new casuals shes drawn in will just be streaming instead, semi fans/non diehards just won’t buy physicals nowadays.

I think you might actually be braindead.

If she had 2.5 million new fans buying then she wouldn’t have had to make 30 variants and sell them each at different times. That is only done with the purpose of pushing repeated purchases

Thats not enough to explain a drop from 3.5 million to 100k

We’ve never seen an album, movie, game, etc drop like that.

Imagine if GTA 6 sales fell by like 95% after the first week

Look man this bundle variant thing is 100% bs but don't blame her for monetizing her fans

Adults should have common sense to know they don't need 14 variants of the same album

And kids don't have money, so a parent should be involved enough to say, hey you don't need 8 cassette variants of the same album

Her sales are crazy overstated but you know what, you might as well as long as people will buy. Why change the rules cause she's got the most deranged fans

The stuff about having other bands and artists delay physical copies really sucks so that is a genuine reason to change the rules tho

She sold a full artwork in 4 seperate pieces that have to be bought individually. That is purposely pushing mass buying.

Not to mention, in addition to buying all 4 albums, she sold another item in her webstore to turn all 4 albums into a clock. If that isn't incentive for her fans to buy all 4 versions, I don't know what is.

As previously reported, Midnights will be released in four separate editions of colored vinyl.

An initial trilogy sold on Swift’s official site, including Midnights: Jade Green Edition Vinyl, Midnights: Blood Moon Edition Vinyl and Midnights: Mahogany Edition Vinyl, all priced at $29.99. ____
Then, earlier week, Target announced an exclusive Midnights: Lavender Edition, also selling at $29.99. ____
The fun doesn’t end there. Put them all together, spin them around, and your collection becomes a TayTay clockface.

“Alright I’ve been wanting to show you this for a while,” Swift says in a new video shared to her social media accounts. “So we have four different covers for the Midnights album. And if you turn them over, there is obviously a back cover to each one of them, they’re each different. What I wanted to show you is that if you put all the back covers together, she’s a clock. It’s a clock. It’s a clock, it makes a clock. It can help you tell time.”

What’s more, there’s even a Tay-approved clock mechanism you can buy to turn your LPs into an actual functioning clock. The pop star’s website is offering a set of four walnut wood shelves and with a brass clock centerpiece featuring two wooden hands that read “Taylor Swift” in brass ink to turn the vinyls into a functioning clock. The price? $49.

Ive actually never implied she’s gained 2.5m new individual buyers, it’s you who’s been filling that part in.

I’m more than happy to accept that her numbers could be slightly inflated due to variants, but since nobody on the other side of this argument is genuine enough to admit to the most basic fundamental reality about all of this, that the pure sales market has shrunk so drastically by now that in order to compete against a 10 year old record, of course variants are a basic necessity in leveling the playing field.

I’m not really gonna downplay her accomplishment since you guys do that already.

So crazy pure sales in 2015 were already impressive to where mainstream publications were pointing it out

Americans really loved this lady for a brief moment. What week did the sales collapse completely?

Evermore, a surprise album, has more weeks on the chart than 25.

Had a spark when you started, but now, you're just garbage

    Brief?

Unless you can contact billboard/luminate for the exact amount of repeated purchases, you don’t know if the inflation is high or low actually. So you’re the stupid one for saying things with no evidence to back it up.

  • Taylor Swift turned into Kang the Conquerer with these out of control variants.

Now, it's up to the Avengers of music to stop her. We must have momentary truce's to stop this vile demon.

That being said tho , I don't think her influence is as large as people think based on what the numbers say

And if you Stan for numbers you're a loser so yea

I was listening to TM101 and when the album ended that Ophelia song came on immediately after. Streaming numbers are probably directionally right in terms of who's popular but it's very much fake

Oh this doesn’t work in your case unfortunately.

Hurry Up Tomorrow’s sales first week were fishy as hell and propped by webstore digital versions lmao. I pointed this out and got called an hater. Also his only other XO Records artist got caught sending fake first week sales to Billboard this year.

So by bringing up he had a similar % drop as Showgirl what are you suggesting about Showgirl’s first week sales

HUT’s sales were not fishy, he just spammed variants like Taylor did

The Drake stan who only wants to see him at the top of the charts and the Pop Stan who only dabbles in hip hop via Drake

Yes because casual people stopped buying new albums Ages ago

Now hold on this can’t be the defense of her sales in the same breath that she’s gaining millions of new fans

Yes though? If you’ve become a fan, you buy albums the only way fans do, you buy it on favorite artist’s web store. If you’re a casual, you just stream instead.

Diehards buy (and buy online), casuals stream. Literally nobody can argue against this lol

You said she gained “millions of new fans” since TTPD

So millions of people became diehard Taylor Swift fans over the past year?
