Drake's stimulus was never that every song was a guaranteed hit (Drake has just as many songs that he's hopped on that never turned out to be hits as songs that did).

The Drake stimulus has always been that Drake would hop on your song and that song would become the spotlight track on your album (which would maybe sometimes lead to it becoming a hit, but would almost always lead to it becoming the song off the album that got the most eyes).

People simply didn't connect with the music on the album. It happens.
