Not really. Passionfruit and One Dance are legitimate all-time bangers. SZA and Kendrick's verses on All the Stars are very mediocre. The hook is the strongest part of the song, followed by the beat. The video is also pretty cool but that's about it.

Not even hating on the song. They just have much better songs individually and even together lol.

You said this exact same thing about luther

If you hate both All the Stars AND luther, then wtf Kendrick & SZA song do you think is their best?

Also imagine saying this and presenting it as some objective fact

You can argue that the verses on One Dance are very mediocre as well

The only thing decent about this song is the hook.

They tried to say Kendrick needs SZA for a hit when Luther was running the charts, I pointed out how All the Stars was a hit and Kendrick wrote SZA's hook, which could've been done by many other female vocalists. They were arguing with me saying SZA elevated the song

Now that they know Kendrick wrote most of it, the song is bad

  • TheFader

Y’all niggas really despise Kendrick with every fiber of your being

All The Stars a generational song in a generational movie. It's a representation of black excellence and afrocentrism.

S*** was literally nominated for Oscars, Golden Globe on top of Grammy ROTY, SOTY

Even during the concert, the performance stands out and it's one of the highlights of the show but some basement dwelling beluga knows more

Well the vast majority of the world would disagree, which is why the song has the traction it has. It is an all timer.

I’m glad you said this. “All the stars” never connected with me for this reason. It’s such a weird song because the video does one thing and the song is clearly some diss song. It’s like Kendrick dusted off some diss song and submitted it for the soundtrack. It never sat well with me. It’s like…why is this song so off between the verses and the chorus?

it being the theme song for black panther helped a lot. yes its a little disjointed but the beat + movie impact was enough to carry it over the line

Eh, I still think the big selling point of the song is its hook lol. That's the most memorable part of the song and the part "the vast majority of the world" knows lol.

Idk I always felt like it was pretty easy to see how Kendricks verse connects to the movies overarching theme of two people with different ideologies who both felt like they were right and went to war over it. Just imagine him rapping that verse as Killmonger or T'challa and it fits either way.

This can apply to like 99% of all popular songs ever

Yeah, it's just a very odd song. Very mediocre verses but very strong hook, all built around some really good production lol. I won't turn it off if it comes on but that doesn't mean I have to think it's some great song lol.

Yes. That’s why I mentioned the fact that the movie says one thing but the verses do another thing and the chorus does a whole other thing. The video makes sense with black panther. The verses were clearly Drake disses but people wouldn’t realize this for a few years and Sza is just crooning. Plus the production is great but still it’s just kinda like ….well this is just quality so well take it but as a collective project it’s just off

The verses literally embody the dynamic between killmonger and tchalla

  • Gonna try to hit up Medellin for the concert in a few weeks. About to be a f***ing movie.
