insert gif of guy going what

This feels like a real crack in America's cultural dominance. It's only a matter of time until anime laps the Western equivalent.

Kids love Demon Slayer. Everyone knows Naruto.

Even the Internet is becoming increasingly less American. Maybe one day we will all be knowledgeable about Indian politics the same way people from different countries are currently about US politics.

You realize Bad Bunny is American right

Olivia album outlasting Taylor’s on streaming

Billie’s 2024 album outlasted TTPD on streaming too

She may have the biggest fanbase with sales, but on streaming (aka the public) her new albums aren’t necessarily outpacing even other top females.

I have to extend some grace to Taylor here because that woman is 20 years into her career. The mere fact that she's still as dominant as she is speaks to her place as a behemoth mainstay. I don't think we should be comparing her commercially to any other female artists tbh, especially since most of them won't last as long as she has or ever see her levels of success.

I don’t think anyone is discrediting her longevity lol.

It’s moreso the fact the last 2 albums get these variant’d sales numbers that make them seem like the biggest albums in modern history when on streaming they aren’t even outdoing other contemporary pop stars after the initial few weeks

Okay, "Gunna makes inoffensive music that is a cheap copy of better artists. Usually with the help of a feature, he can make a song catchy enough to be playlist fodder and serve as background music for more people than usual."

    Discussion over.

I wasn't going to say anything, but you brought up an interesting point.

for a song about culture vultures, in order for it to become a massive hit, let alone one of "global" proportions, who exactly do you think is listening to it?

Not everyone globally is a culture vulture. People genuinely love and appreciate American black art and music and most are genuinely consumers.

Culture vultures are ones who suck up the benefits but have no problem mocking the culture and joking about slavery.

You framed Bruno’s song dropping only 17% second week as a bad thing on this page.

You’re still in the lead for dumbest posts. ❤️

Fair enough. I think she also hasn't done herself any favors with how much music she's released since in the last 6 years. I'd be shocked if some of those albums didn't take a hit long-term performance-wise.

    Since 2019, she's released:
    Lover
    Folklore
    Evermore
    Fearless (Taylor's Version)
    Red (Taylor's Version)
    Midnights
    Speak Now (Taylor's Version)
    1989 (Taylor's Version)
    The Tortured Poets Department
    The Life of a Showgirl

I bet she drops another album this year because she hasn't missed a year since 2019. That's a lot of music for any fanbase to consume, regardless of how massive it is.

Crazy ascent for her. I became a fan when Messy dropped. It's been nice watching her mainstream rise.

Fair enough. As I see it, I'm not part of the "us" Kendrick was referring to. It would be really weird if I called Drake a culture vulture or nodded along to someone else doing it.

And I think a lot of other people are in that position too, who were nodding along to the song. But that's just my opinion and it doesnt matter. The song was def successful.

Why would she release two songs with near identical names

    That is so confusing

Leave The Door Open only had a 9% decrease second week.
