There is a big chance Kendrick ends up selling less than Future (INLY) ,Uzi (EA),J.Cole (Off-Season) and Lil Baby (My Turn) LTD if he doesn't push heavily future physical releases, still think a future Kendrick album can do much bigger numbers if he plans it better but coulda woulda
The performance of this album (in it's first week and years from now) has nothing to do with planning or a lack thereof. The music on it is simply not compelling enough to keep people coming back and I know people have said "well, the album isn't sticking because it doesn't have bangers" but EVERY Kendrick album always has songs with a groove that could work if pushed well. Even TPAB had songs like i, Alright, King Kunta and These Walls — all songs with a message that you could also bump to. Ditto for GKMC/DAMN. The difference is that for some reason, on this album, he misses the mark songcraft-wise on a lot of them songs. I keep saying it: the songs on this album simply aren't crafted well enough like songs off Kendrick albums usually are. They're all over the place and not because it was planned to be that way. It legit feels like Kendrick doesn't know what he's doing on some of them songs and I feel like listeners can sense that and it's what turning them off for the most part. That's another discussion for another day, though.
Kendrick down bad. Future outselling Kendrick’s second week in his third week
There is still a chance he still stabilizes quite high thanks to a core fan base in the 15-25k range, but the general public is out almost. rn he depends on his core fanbase and we haven't seen yet if they will stick or not and will not know it until w6-8 if he doesn't stop dropping sales numbers he out
Kendrick really dropped one of the biggest flops and disappointments of our generations, s*** is crazy man
I’d never expected the man that made GKMC would go out like this
album still great

This album probably won’t go 2x platinum

I don't speak for all of us but I feel like I'm almost done with this album. There's nothing to go back to like gkmc and DAMN

You still listen to that intro?

Better planning I mean it in general for the album not just rollout, includes also the songs that he and his team have decided for the album and the features of it. I think Kendrick is capable of making a 350k album fw and with much better legs this just wasn't it
album still great
The hype is already gone bro you can stop pretending
This album probably won’t go 2x platinum
Probably won't, I'm just giving the best case scenario
You still listen to that intro?
That song was trash before the album even came out

He's most definitely capable of that. No doubt about it. That's what I'm saying: whatever this album was, wasn't it and people can see that, which is why it's performing the way it is.
How long until Kendrick d*** eaters start running the narrative that he let the album flop on purpose because he wanted out of TDE

They already did it in the first 24 hrs

Ur username got me thinking and this project is honestly better than any Asap Rocky album
Rocky career trayectory been a let down
(ALLA still great tho)

An album about a black man healing and going to therapy isn’t connecting to a woman. Shocker.
Popular albums can be good because the public supports them and underperforming albums can be a sign they didn't like it. Especially when it comes to artists like Kendrick who are established and success isn't as hard to achieve
While there are a lot factors in an album performance, an album legs usually show how the quality of the album is perceived by the public of the album, bad legs means most people think it's not worth to go back. You can argue the reasons for it and if this means it's a bad album or not but that's the truth
Using "no rollout" as an excuse for weak numbers, especially this decade, with how prominent social media is, is the weakest excuse you could come out with. Especially when the artist in question is a major artist. You really don't need anything other than a social media post. Blogs, fans, sites will carry and spread the news of your album's release for you and from that point, all that matters is who tunes in to support what you dropped.
They’re using “no rollout” as an excuse for the SECOND week. Like bro everyone knows the album is out by now. They’re just not listening to it

Has ever occurred in your pea brain that his intention of this album wasn't just to just produce songs for sales. The album has songs about black trauma, lgbtq issues, father issues so no s*** some people don't want to go back to every day.
S*** is not difficult to comprehend
I honestly believe Kendrick could have made a much better album with the same "message" this album had and it would have been something compelling enough for everyone to keep going back to. This is the first time he's failed to do that. Like I still play TPAB today. There are still essential Kendrick catalog songs on there. This album has 0 songs like that. There's nothing here I see myself going back to right now, not to talk of years from now but you say stuff like that and they'll call you a mindless hater lol.
