VisionaryKendrick fans should hold tight. By the end of the year Drake will outstream Kendrick easily and having his album come out earlier with proper promo etc is gonna be a bad look when the other guy dropped a whole other genre.

NeonNigga23If it wasn’t then drake wouldn’t call it his 7th studio album. You guys were acting like u were gonna get a crazy album before it dropped because of that. Niggas were acting like drake was throwing shade at Kendrick by dropping on his birthday
Or maybe he called it his 7th studio album because ......... wait for it ......... It is an album? One he did 0 promo for and announced it some hours before the drop. Experimental album from him but he didn't care, he just released it bravely. Other artists would've been warming their fans up in order to get the sales up, but drake didn't.

This is why JIK didn’t sell well
Kanye’s fanbase post 2010 has been overrun by white hipsters. The most dangerous kind of people because they can hide their passive racism behind a thin veneer of faux-progressivism. So there’s two things going on here.
A) they prefer “artsy” hip hop because that is more comfortable for their white, indie music sensibilities. JIK is a raw gospel album - a historically black genre of music - and isn’t quirky enough and doesn’t have any Bon Iver features so naturally they want nothing to do with it. B) Even tho they’ll never admit it, they prefer their black entertainers to be wilding out making fools of themselves - as long as it doesn’t offend their liberal proclivities. They can’t stand seeing a black man search for meaning and positivity in his life. This reaction is further exacerbated because it’s explicitly religious music. I’m an atheist but many of these edgy types think religion is a purely evil thing which can’t possibly be a source for some people to grow, change, and better themselves which is false.
So it’s a combination of casual liberal racism and people simply not being actual hip hop fans (which is a byproduct of said racism)

Exactly. Drake needed to have a flop at some point. I like the album! I've been defending it to people IRL in fact because it's not connecting the way it should be and I think it's a quality piece of work.
But let's keep that same energy. Kenfolk got s*** on when they used the "it's not that kind of album" excuse for Mr. Morale. Let's not lean on it now. The album was a surprise drop, sure, but it also isn't hitting with a lot of people and neither did Nr. Morale. It's OK. Time will vindicate these albums or not.
