Die Hard was a hit but he didn’t promote or push any singles. I wonder why?
It wasn’t really a hit to me. Unfortunately Morale didn’t have any “hits” to me. N95 was probably the closest, but that was pretty minor in comparison to DAMN & GNX.
But that wasn’t the goal of the project or what mattered. He bared his soul for that project and probably got the most vulnerable we’ve seen
him.
It already is
its good to see an artist who has artistic creativity (mainstream wise) to thrive in 2025. as a fan who's rocked with kendrick since 2011 means commercial music still has some sort of merit.
it sucks that he had to use gimmicks ie rap beef but how do you get eyes on you these days? its contingency so it is what it is but still proud
I look forward to when drake and dot are old age and they can laugh about this s***
But in terms of space and population, the West Coast outweighs the East. The East Coast gets a lot of acclaim from being the "progenitor" but the history to me is richer out West and is more interesting
Sidenote: They really should've listened when I talked about the sub-ethnic implications on that battle. Drake was fighting an insurmountable uphill battle and Kendrick leaned right into it. I swear I was talking about it the page before Euphoria dropped
Honestly, it felt like these two niggas were really arguing about different things all throughout the battle lol.
Wayne’s run started in 2005 -2009.
We are talking about a single year period with Kendrick. It’s not even close.
Wayne 2008 was pandemonium
Kendrick’s had 4-5 hits this era, swept the Grammys for a diss song, had the highest viewed SB in America of all time, has 3 albums in the billboard top 10 and 2 of them are old and right now is occupying 5 spots in the billboard top 10 weeks after the SB and months after GNX dropped.
Id say he’s pretty close man. I’ve never seen a run this impressive aside from Wayne or Eminem in 2002.
Wayne, Eminem, 50, Kanye, 2Pac, Biggie, Drake, all those guys had monster sales when they were on their GOAT run
GNX did well, IDK if it's up there. I think the next album has to sell 400-500K to really solidify it

They were but several points of that battle Kendrick made sure to involve the entire coast. He used that rich history against Drake because the West is very separate and sensitive to rest of niggas in the US. It's extremely paramount that even subtle things like most niggas America being on either Eastern or Central time and how they experience life in general. Just a nerdy sociological and geographical theory but I think most people looked over that really important aspect

I think it's a dope angle you're exploring if you wanna make a thread on it, but yeah, when I heard Pac on Taylor Made, I was like "On some 4D chess type s***, Drake is playing the game well with the trolling/disrespect, but this s*** might get him cooked lol"

What really made me see that thread was talking to my ex, who is from LA. She started having super home team pride and I knew she wasn't the biggest Kendrick fan until NLU. Being out West myself in my younger years I felt that physical distance from my family and got to experience life with that West Coast culture
It's something I'm sure nobody took serious on the Drake side but I was telling people to stop clowning Hed because he really a legend, the West can unify fast as hell if need be. Relatively younger black settlements and aforementioned distance probably have that as the reason. I'll talk about ideas like this with people I respect, I don't think we need more threads and opinions on the beef

Mase and Cam picked up on that too and said the west really throws up that W no matter where you are, but in NY it's all about the boroughs, and the energy is different altogether.

On top of that Kendrick covered himself in the cloak of "the culture" to make his assertions hit harder, Drake tried that as well but it don't hit the same anywhere else but out West
True but wasn’t there reports that he has like a five year plan or something like that? Idk where I saw that but would be interesting to see how that would play out
the only thing that is planned for 5 years is Move Afrika which is currently in Year 3
these niggas hating hard
i hate this because everyone was saying he always takes too long to drop, and that he didn't come back and impress anybody when Mr Morale dropped. Now that he did exactly what they wanted him to do they're begging him to stop

first it was
“use me as a they ain’t got nothing to drop button”
then it became “you got this played out”
been given up on honest discussion lol
The notable thing about Kendrick’s current run compared to the other seminal runs (only matched by Em in 2000, 2002, 50 in 2003) is that the general public has been perched at every move and meaning. It isn’t just the works with cultural presence amongst the buying demographics but meaning beyond that
There’s regular folks being moved by his every move in a way we really haven’t seen
