    I mean, I get the comparison on a surface level but the main reason Kendrick took off in a way Lupe never did is that he's capable of writing hooks like Money Trees

    Lupe has made so many great, thematically rich albums, but his DAMN was about 300x worse. That's partially him and partially the team around him not being as good at pop songwriting

    Plus their rap styles are so different and they get lumped in because they’re both lyrical

    I’m a big fan of both

    Kendrick is more poetic and direct, he honestly is a more Me Against The World Pac writing wise

    Lupe is more intricate and metaphor heavy, they both can dabble in the other lane but I feel like them at their core are different types of rappers they just covered similar topics
