Gotta give it to Kendrick. Not a fan of all of his styles, but you have to give it to him. He didn’t just make one album then rinse and repeat like most, every album has a unique sound… like it or not!
I want to write out my feelings on this sometime but I have this personal philosophy of a "Bowie scale" when rating artists careers as a whole.
Longevity and the ability to reinvent not just your sound but create music that can only be created by you is so important when we consider who is a GOAT in a genre. It's the mark of a true artist, It's what elevates musicians from just being a rapper, rockstar, etc.
Kendrick is so versatile, At this point, he's hard to criticize.
Kanye is another one of these artists who just constantly reinvents himself.
Hip Hop is still a pretty young genre of music really and It has so much potential to evolve, I'm so glad the biggest albums of this year have kind of shed the whole trap aesthetic, I was SO tired of hearing the same 808s and snares on every f***ing project.
Linking up with Jack Antonoff was genius on a production standpoint, GNX feels so cohesive as a project
I call it the Bowie scale because David Bowie really sets a standard for longevity, dude reinvented himself and had "eras"
26 studio albums is crazy
No wonder why Zack ignored that
This album is performing extremely well for a 12-track surprise release.
If he did the bloated tracklists his peers did, he would’ve broken records
It is quite literally and plainly its’ second day
When someone found out about the album doesn’t mean it didn’t exist on the first day
Here's a little task for you on this wonderful Sunday:
Look at the drop albums suffer on their 2nd day out after a full tracking day
Different when you have less than half a day after a surprise drop
Donda also had half a day and guess what, it improved massively on its 2nd day and did 100m streams
Enjoy your learning experience

I'm happy that big rap artists starting to give a s*** about releasing their albums midnight on friday
Tyler and now Kendrick, hope this continues somehow

Chromakopia dropped by 20 million streams in its’ second day, which was its’ first “full” day
You’re just trying to paint these numbers as weak, we see right through you

Every time buddy heard 808s and hi-hats
man come the f*** on bro

bro, 1. @ me
2. Not saying 808's bad. I just think we've had enough of the sound. Music evolves, Hip Hop was stagnating, It's why we got all these "Hip hop is dead" articles
3. Have a nice morning
Also Donda’s first day was 94m and its’ second was 100m.
GNX’s first day was 44m and its’ second was 74m
Not comparable whatsoever

What time of the day did CHROMAKOPIA drop?

Also Donda had like 500 tracks

So 6 hours is the difference between a 20 million drop and a 30 million increase to you?
Are you mentally challenged?

more surprised at that “Bowie scale” s***

You said the album didn't have a full day of tracking so I am asking you to tell when the album dropped in order to understand how many hours of tracking the album had on its first day.
"But does double the track means double the total streams? No."
Of course it does lol FATD had like 24 tracks lmao. Lets see what Drake does when he drops a 12 track album
It probably scales but there's zero evidence to say it scales proportionally
I may actually need it over a different beat
Damn, the beat is one of my favorite parts of it

Travis and Kendrick got the same amount of songs on DSPs yet Travis was cooking him on total daily streams before GNX dropped. Had 20M more daily streams or something like that.
So no.
@TroyAveStan idk what happened last night, but gimmick aside, it is ironic that niggas was s***ting on you for the exact thing Kendrick was tryna embrace in this album

It is one of the biggest rappers in Hip-hop, with beef and the year he is having. Upcoming SB performance.
It is not really that surprising. Of course people will or should be listening when it just dropped.
But will they continue to stream and listen says more.
