If you’ve ever read that book I mentioned earlier you’ll get why I feel this way. I’m pretty sure Kendrick got his inspiration from that book.

In it, Santiago meets this old guy Melchizedek who can read minds and know things that nobody else does. Kind of like the God Kendrick meets at the gas station.

Kendrick said he got the idea for HMADC after visiting South Africa (Johannesburg if I’m not mistaken).

Santiago in the book has this dream about a treasure in Egypt and he goes on this whole journey across the Sahara to find it and the twist (don’t want to spoil it) at the end kinda reminds me of the one in Kendrick’s song.

HMADC is a masterpiece.
