On my first listen of “Gloria” I thought it was so powerful that he made a song for Whitney, celebrating her just after his battle.
It hit me on a very emotional and vulnerable place, because right now he has to be ready to scrabble all the time and yet he put his guard down and showed his vulnerability because he loved her.
The fact that he in the end says “the song is really my pen/writing” cheapened the emotional impact allot for me, like in the end he was to afraid of being vulnerable and had to make it intellectually

the point of most songs in that same vein are to be likened to a relationship/love interest etc to a certain other object. Dont let that take away from the song, because his family and life is very much also his pen. It goes both ways.
Neither will speak on their relationship status anyway, so maybe it gets more potent in the opposite direction if the narrative is "the only thing ive never lost is my pen"

I understood it as he's rapping about both of them, think it's in a joking manner like he didn't wanna get caught boo'd up so he improvised and said oh I was talking about the pen
