I can't remember which song but it was a track with either Meek Mill or Freddie Gibbs that Tory did where I thought he was Travis Scott till I saw the credits

2020s have been such a great decade (so far) for music in general I won’t lie. Niggas locked in the stu when COVID popped off and have been cooking up flamers ever since. If it keeps up for the next half of the decade, some discussions need to be had…

Man what is the SOUND of this decade for rap music

Halfway through a new decade and the production still sounds the same as it did 6-7 years ago

All those years had good albums but it wasn’t consistent in the same way

2020/2021 you can attest to COVID and then 2023 was just a very bleh year

Hate to say it but I wholeheartedly believe the East Coast taking Drake under our wing/claiming him as one of us killed our steam even more. Like dude’s a whole ass Canadian lol…who jacks ATL, Houston, Memphis, and the UK. Why is he a “staple” in our scene?

It’s even more infuriating seeing Philly niggas d***ride him, especially after the whole Meek fued.

That’s partly cause Meek got Beanie jumped.

Bro LL Cool J actually had a really good album this year

For rap music, overall this decade has been abysmal.

Music on a widespread scale? I agree, the 2020s has been pretty dope.

But for rap this s*** has been egregious

I think he had a bigger Influence around mid to late last decade. That Toronto “sound” that 40 was really behind mixed with Drake’s type of melodic rapper hybrid was more prevalent then I think than now.

He didn’t invent that style.. but his tweak on did pave the way for a certain lane of rappers back then. Especially light skin rappers. I remember I had a homie who was really on his Drake s*** lol

lord jamar has no say so in hip-hop…but then again he was in the most important collective / groups of all time…

If Grand Puba aint said it, it dont have value.

Sadat X gets more love than Jamar do.

He claimed that he wrote for Travis then doubled down on it when Travis confronted him at Mala Luna 2016

Nah I get it. Just hurts to see how we can’t support one another still, especially against an outsider

I'm confused by that though. Cuz wasn't Beanie backing Meek during his beef with Game in 2016 @kwakudrew
