how is this minimalist in your opinion, there's some layered and lush production on here
I don't agree that it's his Yeezus but I do think it's minimalist— for starters it's his shortest project to date (besides UU), and sonically it's very direct, baring all, with almost no clutter or lingering. Furthermore, it is pretty stripped down of any extraneous sound, most beats here are at their essentialized level— no gimmicky, novel, indulgent sound. Lastly, I think minimal and lush/layered aren't mutually exclusive. It's essentially to say it's efficient and effective. Yeezus is a good example of this. This is especially true if you compare it to something like MMBS, which was much more theatrical, spacial, and curious in its sound.
The album sounds like the cover. No unnecessary information, no frills, just Kendrick and his GNX
This is like Kendrick’s Yeezus
It’s brash aggressive and minimalist and it’s divisive
It’ll be some people favorite Kendrick album and others will think it’s trash
What lmfao
