DAMN was not strictly about music that album was dark as hell and iirc it was about the world at large

but the music is as good as it is so I’ll let it slideThe way I interpret his attitude on Morale vs. GNX is that the resolution on Morale was him choosing to prioritize his mental health and focus on his family, not completely abstain himself from competition and being the best rapper he could be. And I feel like we've seen that take place with how little he's actually online and how he keeps all his thoughts in the music, he doesn't give any of the media the opportunity to shake that foundation.

If MM&TBS is the album where he’s looking inward as a person this is the flip side of that and looking inward as an artist.
Hence the call back to all his influences with the Pac/DMX inflections on Reincarnated. The LA and Bay Area influence on the production and samples, him addressing everything on the intro, reminiscing on his come up with Heart Part 6 and giving TDE their flowers for how they all came up together, Gloria literally being his version of I Used To Love H.E.R. etc

Yeah but I’d love to hear him explain how he got to that place of making Mr morale and now seemingly (music wise at least) putting ego at the forefront more than ever.
Not a bad thing - it comes with the territory in rap - and obviously music isn’t a reflection of his full personality. Just found it interesting.
I suppose he touched on it a bit in that interview with sza when he said he wants peace but war is necessary too
