Trying and putting effort into your raps gets you over criticized and marketing yourself as a dumb gangbanger d*** dealing woman beater (even if you grew up with 2 parents in a 2 story house) means there is no requirement for content or social commentary in your music

Those are events in the past so not directly comparable to commenting on an ongoing thing. But for comparability, I do not expect every person to have profound and expansive thoughts on the current status of racism (slavery) or antisemitism (Holocaust). I do not think every artist needs to use their platform to inform on those things or discuss them. I do not think it disqualifies an artist from talking about one if he doesn’t mention the other. I don’t see the need to play the whataboutism where you can’t speak up about one thing just because you are quiet or uninformed about something else. People attach themselves to different causes for different reasons and feel more compelled to learn about them and share their thoughts.

There are people who care very much about Palestine but couldn’t tell you the first thing about Sudan. Or don’t follow the Ukraine war anymore. And that is fine by me. I do not think having thoughts on every humanitarian crisis is a prerequisite to speak on any of them. If an artists has a lot to say about once social cause or issue but nothing about another that is fine by me.
