Kendrick changed his entire aesthetic to be this pro-black leader to sell an album I can't really be too mad at people especially the non-politically principaled for expecting something from dude.

I mean there’s dumb and stupid ways to talk about this kind of stuff, but I think people can have a constructive discussion about artists, messaging, and expectations that are actually a net positive and healthy.

Is it disappointing that kendrick (and other artists) aren't being vocal about it ? Yes

Are there fair criticism regarding kendrick's music and his politics? Yes

Are people using Palestine as a gotcha to dunk on people to fuel stan wars ? Yes

I’m not into the witch hunt Stan wars type s***. I think there is a time and place for these types of conversations though. Like Kendrick is a great artist obviously but he’s not a revolutionary and that’s okay. I think we just have to be honest sometimes about what’s happening. There are real artists out there who are willing to put their careers on the line to say and do the hard stuff. Kendrick doesn’t seem to be one of them. That’s cool. it already has largely, within major academic or liberal activist groups any of its revolutionary material basis has been detached away and has been enveloped to fit neatly within common American political discourse without sounding to radical- and it accomplishes multiple things

1) detaches the original, revolutionary radical population from being the direct topic of conversation and shifts the onus to bourgeois actors or rather in this case the online disputes of their petit-bourgeois fanbase

2) Any onus of American imperialism has been removed and replaced with the end goal being is X or Y person just donated enough money or had the correct idea or speech things would get better- idealist and anti-working class

The only people this truly causes people for are DNC politicians and bourgeois affiliates that need to use the lense of “progressiveness” to make themselves politically palatable and interesting to the DNC petit-bourgeois voter base while not actually offending any real sectors of power (Mamdani, AOC, )
