Phlegm@sentient_sherm_bag I feel like she’s been popping for a minute with a good studio practice as well as her respectable community based gardening initiatives. She’s done events with other musicians like George Clinton most recently.
If it’s charity it makes sense and again no one’s forcing this purchase. But relatively new compared to whom? She’s really ambitious and I feel like this collab effort tracks based on her long exhibition history which has depth and breadth.
Her first solo exhibition was like 4 or 5 years ago so yes, she is relatively new. She’s not known like artists like Nina Chanel Abney, Shantell Martin (also collaborated with Kendrick), Mickalene Thomas etc.

I actually agree with that and wasn’t sure what n whom u were comparing her too. I feel like I consider the post Mfa, studio museum residency show as a start to a career but I think it’s fair to use a solo as a time marker. Compared to those names you’re correct in that she’s relatively new. Thanks for the response.
