now going around making things up while still crying when he literally recorded most of the album this year started round time of the pop out and recorded with the peope on the album in person in LA

a little strange they didn't go back and add that though. they have the visuals of people singing along but they aint singing and the vocal sounds less than ideal. knowing kendrick's MO i suppose it was intentional but i can't really imagine that being the case since it sounds pretty whatever. love it otherwise

the project is his most "scatter-brain"and spontaneous so far. he was literally doing things for the album till literally last minute, like for example the title track "GNX" was added a day or two before the album dropped and was the last song done that wasnt even planned, but kendrick wanted another hard hitting west coast regional song so he hit a bunch of producers he knows last min for the "most ignorant sounding CA s*** you got" and grabbed a bunch of niggas for the studio for it

Squabble Up video happened before GNX was a thing outside his circle so it was really private, people are saying the people in the vid didnt even know fully what they were there for and its a bunch of camera tricks n ish

but yeah its just due to it being an early incarnation and that its his most spontaneous project yet where they were adding songs, effects and ad-libs until the very last minute with whatever came to mind - and was made in less than half a year since round the time of the pop out

the whole vibe for the project was just "pure west coast energy unfiltered"

IIRC of what people are saying, the Reincarnated song and the "aliens on Rossecrans" bridge on Hey Now are the only things Kendrick was working on or had an idea of prior before the GNX project happened. At least what made the final version.

Everything else started with a week or two before Pop Out concert happened when all the Rappers got together and people. Starting with Squabble Up and why it was teased in the NLU MV.

Everything else besides Reincarnated and the Hey Now bridge was all put together in LA and worked on till it dropped in LA since the Pop Out. Whole project was basically made in less than 6 months, and he wanted just new unfiltered energy of his home so thats why its all brand new material from the ground up, a collaborative project and why its his most spontaneous. To bottle up all that energy and excitement to make a pure and raw modern westcoast project.

The whole idea of the project was just pure westcoast unfiltered energy. Which is where the GNX car (an important and sought after car in CA especially in the 80s to 2000s) comes from, the Bayarea and LA lingo/references/flows & sound-styles & all the features being CA only (like a 2Pac or E40 album where they would have a gang of niggas in the feat line-up that no one outside of CA really knows about), except for SZA.

Makes sense why only the beats are good
