I like Kendrick but I don’t care about his political statements. It comes across as first year art student’s opinion on Race which is why he’s great critic bait.
So for me the more calculated he is the worse he sounds. The Kendrick version I like best is when he uses his GOAT level of artistry in a more flow state.
Untitled Unmastered was his last great project for me. Everything else is too manicured, to focus-grouped and caters to a political angle which just so happens to be endorsed by everybody giving awards.
His d***riders will never understand this and why they’ll never understand Kanye or someone like Drake who are just constantly making great Art as inspiration arises.
Kendrick is so calculated it doesn’t sound like Art anymore. You can appreciate the high-level technique but the message doesn’t resonate for the ordinary person because he’s trying too hard to be 2Pac.
It’s music that you don’t listen to everyday, because you simply cannot.

I also think damn is mid but how you complaining about political music but like TPAB/UU
i thought drake took the first jab or am i mistaken? either way idk how anyone is taking a beef that never took off srsly
He was the only one who got hurt over the control verse I think

It’s a good way to sum it up. I just think he can give the same message with better MUSIC. Somethings I’d rather read than hear.
For me music is about beauty in the auditory. If it doesn’t sound great to me you’ve already failed on a basic level. There is no reason whatever message you want to get across can’t be done in that way. No reason, everything else is complicating and detracting from it unless it has that element.
why is he yelling at me?
his voice has been mad annoying since after TPAB

You said all of that just to basically say “I don’t agree with his politics and so because of that, I don’t enjoy his music when it’s political” lol idk why conservatives always have to cloak their criticisms of everything with all these mental gymnastics

I didn’t mention TPAB for a reason and mentioned UU for a reason. Listen to those back to back and you’ll realise one is a f***ing chore to listen to and the other is beautiful and just as deep without hitting you over the head with the same thing again and again.

they’re literally the same sound and same politics. you like the TPAB leftovers but not TPAB lol

nah he just prefers the flow state of kendrick i think. the raw, unpolished version of TPAB leftovers*
i can actually understand not liking art that is too manicured. even tho i obv disagree when it comes to kendrick

I’m not conservative and I don’t mind political music even if I disagree with the message - if it is thought provoking or is moving the music/concept has done its job.
I just don’t find any of Kendrick’s thoughts deep. His SJW message is done to death at this point and is already saturated.
I rather listen to 2Pac - My Block (remix) on repeat than listen to TPAB even once.

the messages in his music are really not very "SJW" at all though

you hear hood politics and these the thoughts that fr run through your mind?
I dont think the nipsey part is in bad taste, nip had a very forgiving and pure nature about him. He already left his imprint on the world and then God called

They’re not the same. UU sounds like a real Jazz session where they’re cooking up the whole album in a day.
TPAB is beating you over the head with a letter/poem he ends up explaining in the end anyway.
Just listen to the two back to back and you’ll see. The inspiration may have came from the same place but the execution on one seems more human, calculated and machine-like on the other.

Hood Politics is literally the best example for what I’m saying. It’s a parody of what that song should be.

yeah obv TPAB is more polished and thought out. I have my issues with it. namely the blacker the berry and how much a dollar cost. and the tupac thing at the end is corny. like a concept a youtube commenter would’ve come up with. but all that aside you’re still left with 12-14 absolutely amazing songs. even with its flaws you get more out of it than UU imo
