Conflicted. I did my first listen while going on a short walk because I saw that the album run time was 40 minutes. Boy was that a lie. I ended up waiting outside for two hours with groceries because I like the solitude when I listen to new music. So that was a tough long-ass listen lmao.

But on a more serious note album was cool, too long for my taste and didn't care for the features. I liked the more energetic tracks, and father time + mother I sober. Maybe I interiorized my own trauma a bit too well because I could relate to a lot of it so it felt mundane to me. That's unfair to the album I know but I expected a technical rock-inspired kendrick album and got a two hours long retelling of my childhood give me a break lol

nah it makes perfect sense man, ur saying a lot of what most peoples issues with the album are, i completely understand what u mean

it definitely is a heavy album, i related 2 it way 2 much as well but i think that’s the beautiful part thing about the album.. my brotha @AllisonXO said it’s just a heavy listen & very dense & i agree

i was expecting a rock inspired album as well cuz of some of the rumors but i feel like once all of this weird hate that this album is receiving in maybe 6 months 2 a year people will eventually come around 2 this album & appreciate it 4 what it is

I think the reasoning for all the Kendrick threads recently is because people know what he’s capable of!!! Everybody want that smoking on top 5 album and know he can deliver it if he wants!! I really like Morale and it has some of my favorite Kendrick records on it but even then I’m still disappointed with it. It just doesn’t justify the 5 year wait from who I think is quite possibly the best album maker in rap

Also salute OP I really f***ed with Kamikaze too. Not every song (the last three songs were f***ing wack) but the ringer, lucky you, and fall are top tier

I think he did need to drop another album this year. Not all of Drake’s album are great, but he drops so often that he’s always got some hot songs circulating. Kendrick needs to take a lesson from Papi or he’ll continue to fall further into irrelevancy.
