A lot of the rappers that came up during the late 00s/early 2010s are a few years shy of being 40 or are already there tbh
Just thinking in perspective
Kendrick is now Mos Defs age in 2010
Let it all out
Thanks man. i'm just frustrated. Drake don't deserve this man bruh has done nothing wrong. what did he ever do to kenny? this really seem like a personal affront. its prolly some wicked behind the scenes s***. I know kenny not about this life. Drake really was the nicest guy. this industry turned him into the bad guy. Nice guys do finish last......
The Boy is pushing the Red Button
F*** Kendrick Lamar
Ungrateful man dwarf needed Drake feature on his major label debut. Even got his own track on Take Care. piece of s***
Good to know that you're above criticism if you give someone a feature within the last 20 years
Huh
But it is a drake diss and wouldn’t be big if it wasn’t for drake diss lol
If this was let’s just say lil baby, would this song be as big as it is? Lol
It's big as it is because of 2 things
The beef was already high profile when it dropped
It's the two most important and arguably biggest rappers of this generation going head to head
But all the Diss songs do that too... the major difference is obvious to anyone with a brain
The song slaps
It's number one because it slaps, the other songs didn't go number 1 because they didn't slap quite as hard
Like that went number one without mentioning drake by name, because its hard as f***

probably accusing kendrick of beating his wife. or if you want to go back further, dissing him for no reason on at the gates.

It's just ironic. Kenny feeds his family from Drake Poetic Justice verse and his Buried Alive verse to this day. He bit the hand that fed his wife the fancy seafood and his kids the steaks... it is what it is.
I thought he meant D Rose
Line had me confused

What is this at the gates you speak of? Not hip

unreleased song from 2021 where he sends shots at kendrick. i believe this is why kendrick was gunning for him in the first place, and why he was weary of collaborating with him on first person shooter.
"Fake woke, niggas fake deep
You ain't know fame before me
Gave yo' ass a lil' sneak peek, yeah
Now you gotta take a back seat"
For all the memories Drake gave people during his career and all the money he pumped into the music business... this is the thanks he gets? "This whole fuxkin game thankless". He said it. This s*** sad man. This s*** make an aspiring rapper think twice about embarking on a recording career if this is how comfortable your colleagues and peers feel dogging you out like this with no shame. God is watching

The f*** are you on about nigga
Have you ever considered that Drake might have just been trying his luck with all the subs and slick s*** he been sending at niggas??
Why aren't all these rappers s***ting on Cole or any other high profile rapper rn
Niggas can't decide whether they want Drake to be the underdog or the final boss of this rap s*** I swear

He watched his daddy get torn to shreds and cant emotionally cope
thanks yo this is a good post too
i think everything you said here is definitely plausible. think back on just how HIMSELF drake used to be. it's sooo crazy to see him being seen as inauthentic now (rightfully so) when drake was anything but in his early career, apart from the occasional faux pas like the headlines video or started from the bottom lol. bro was like a nerd and student of hip hop (but not in an insufferable corny way like j cole... sorry im just a cole hater always have been lol) and a lady's man. the type of nigga to rap over jai paul and talk to these hoes like they're his one and only or talk about how sad he is that aaliyah's gone hahaha... it was like "yeah you niggas hate me but guess what i just flew out your girl" type energy. frankly, it's almost Prince vibe in terms of him being another untradtionally presenting straight man who was often hated by cishet men but beloved by women, embracing his sensitivity and even "femininity" and women resonating and being attracted to that. being a jit during this whole era, drake's aura was UNDEFEATED back then for me. he was an inspiration because i felt like him and his camp were doing something artistically cool and still getting success/bitches off it hahaha. it was something i aspired to, honestly.
that second point is valid too. i can definitely see how his reputation being permanently stained by that sullied this idea that he would be considered like a GOAT MC, so he just abandoned it in favor of... whatever tf he's doing now, chart dominance i guess? music that's here today and gone tomorrow for me personally.
i liked a lot of tracks on views but there were a lot i didnt like. i think you're right as views does feel like a more traditional drake album especially considering the duds he's been dropping lately, but even still i think that album is infected with the faux pas mob boss fake abs bullshit like 9 or the future song, and of course had the beginnings of his weird need to ape other styles like dancehall caribbean music etc which to me back then was SO weird because i was like "why would he need to ape anything?? does this nigga not realize how innovative and influential his team's sound was and still could've continued to be? like yall havent even taken this as far as it could go..." tracks like fire & desire or feel no ways or redemption or u with me? for example off top. it for SURE seems like he completely lost confidence in himself and the sound. and yes idk about the rihanna thing necessarily but this is HUGE like the clear love and empathy he had for women even up to 2018 with nice for what seems completely absent now. maybe it was always a fraud but maybe not.
lmk if you think i should make a thread on this tbh. i wanna talk about it with more because i feel like the drake problem doesnt get enough discussion from this specific perspective in terms of niggas like me who used to be huge fans but are completely off him now. but when i made my esperanza spalding thread it was before the beef and drake stans blew my notifs up for weeks after
they awfully quiet these days though so it might be a good time to do that
i sometimes feel bad bc as someone who lived through the 2011-2013 “Drake the type of nigga” meme era the clowning was so persistent and merciless for years, especially from old heads that i feel like he felt like he had to invent this persona in order to just live peacefully and even though that’s backfired horrendously in a way it’s kind of true
The f*** are you on about nigga

Drake an easy target. Type every homeless man would try to get some $ from if they saw bruh walking down the path or every new york big bus ticket salesman would try to sell to. Bruh is sensitive, emotional. The greatest commercial artists of our generations usually are

Before the beef started y'all told everybody on here that Drake was strategic and battle tested yadda yadda
