    mr get dough

I think I love the music so much bc that was probably the 2nd best year of my life so far

But I feel u, can’t relate to the 2016 hype at all my life was so trash that year lol

2015 was a worse year for me than 2016 but 2015 had the most classics imo

    2016 overhyped

This feels like the end of a chapter.
I don’t know why but the video was the credits.
Rap will never be the same.

    Thank you Mr. Lamar

Don’t get smart with the replies because you thought some of yall could just say all this label approved flap when some of us actually listen to the music as is.

The ā€œthemeā€ nonsense is sheer marketing gimmick to allow artists to have extra perceived depth to their music and to paper over faults in the songs.

There were no themed albums in the 70s or 80s. Now you gotta fill out albums in the 90s or 2000s to justify the purchases by claiming theres a theme to equate it to reading a novel.

    Stop this insanity.

Either you like the music or you don’t.

He in my top 5 man

I’m just saying if there was ANY subjective doubt at this point, the beef completely deaded it.

Anybody who was debating Dot being top 10 before this s*** isn’t a nigga whose worth debating with frfr. Dot solidified himself as top 10 ever with DAMN. imo but I woulda had him in my top 10 in 2015 tbh. Atp Dot chasing #1 and its looking hella possible

But I think a much more interesting question is where does Drake rank all time now? Im genuinely curious as to what yall think

If you can’t appreciate the songs, then pretending that theres a theme that itself isn’t there in the songs or to excuse the song quality to help you paper over how much you should be telling yourself to enjoy it is itself cope.

It’s a good thing that the majority of us here enjoy the album regardless of themes then

We don’t enjoy the album BECAUSE of its content and ideas, we enjoy it because of its execution. Providing context for those songs isn’t an indicator of how good or not good the album is. It’s a heavy album with alot of unpack

Brotha on threads who initally thought the video was mid put into words better than me why this video was so much better than if he had just did a ā€œhit em upā€ style type of mv

    @CliCity @Mitchell @SegaDreamFlash @bluemagic @Nikedufflebag @ChiraqPalestine

Only thing about this is that Drake loves feeling persecuted so he definitely is finna run with the "You niggas tried to kill me but I lived" faceass

Some people love a challenge, whether it's a difficult sport, or French Extreme cinema, or even literary fiction novels. Nothing wrong with that.

Cinema and novels themselves aren’t chapters or individualized selections. They’re complete works. Musicians especially rappers with superficial content that carries the burden of trying to be more poetic than it really is tries to sell audiences undue worth by telling them that they’re engaged in some deeper subversive project.

Thats why people won’t accept Drake albums have ā€œthemesā€ but Kendricks are just these unassailable complete masterpieces of storytelling.

    Which is it?

Are you, by chance, an A&R?
Do you, by chance, enjoy mountain climbing?
Do you also, by chance, enjoy playing an electric guitar?

a tightly unified album is different from a ā€œthemedā€ album.

YOU, subjectively didn’t like it. That’s fine. You aren’t wrong for it not resonating with you, but Stop trying to put words in our mouth or act like it isnt good because the content and themes are discussed more then your average collection of songs put together as an album.
