I think Kendrick is a shrewd guy - on one hand (Will Ferrell voice) it’s provocative, s***abuse and child abuse is the great evil of our times especially in the entertainment industry, it will never not capture attention. I think he or his team see what lines of get the best reception and lean on it

And on the other hand, Drake is a creep! It’s undeniable, he’s done creep s*** and has a team with some predatory weirdos on it, or once were on it. So for Kendrick to keep hitting that target is always gonna pay off, because Drake’s done a horrible job clearing the air about this s*** - like the Millie Bobby Brown stuff. His response to that on wax was basically “man be serious”; okay, maybe that gets people to drop the issue from conversation but they don’t come away from it thinking “I was wrong, Drake was just being friendly”. They shut up but the suspicion doesn’t go away.

It’s not right of them to do, but in modern America people will always:
•Associate gay/queer/“freaky” behavior with perversion, and s***abuse
•Assume that figures in power positions operate systems of abuse (this, we know, has been validated by fact)
•View celebrity status as inhabiting a different strata of society where social norms are violated or nonexistant

Take that and add Diddy, add Epstein, add QAnon; you’ve got an audience that is veeeeeeerry open to salacious stories of evil sexual impropriety. Even if I thought Drake was 100% innocent of everything Kendrick accused him of, its just smart choice of subject matter. Do I love listening to it? Not really, but listener enjoyment is secondary in all this

The one mistake I think Kendrick makes is not being upfront about the DV s*** being a lie. I don’t really give a f*** about him raising Dave Free’s kid but I do give a f*** about him beating his wife or another woman.

BUT all the strategy I’ve read from people who make their living with this stuff (mostly politics) says you should never get caught up in countering claims; you just keep making new claims or pile on your old claims. So I’d be giving Kendrick bad advice I ‘spose.
