I remember kendrick saying it was the album he always wanted to make but nobody would give af if it was his first, which is facts.
I don't think man was in the studio thinking "man the New York Times gonna love this one"
Just white kids saying black artists are making music for white critics in a weird round about way

I don’t believe it was critic bait
But I can probably argue for it
Naming the title as a reference to To Kill A Mockingbird (IMPORTANT book) along with the artwork and the literary structure/emphasis on poetry, I could picture him making it saying “they gonna teach this at schools” or a similar thought process, it’s more like academic bait

They’ve definitely matured since then but I think the shots thrown atm are subtle as hell. I might be alone on this but I wholeheartedly believe the last few bars on “Sticky” were directed towards Kendrick

If Drizzy still had issues with Kenny though, why would he follow him on IG and like his posts then? Drake is too petty to be doing all of that and then sending shots.
Unless for Drizzy it’s more of a friendly competition then something personal like with Pusha.

I do think it’s a lot less personal than the pusha thing and more just rap dominance s***. There’s no other way for me to read those drake lines though
All that was drake responding to family ties, I don’t think we got too much response from Kendrick since besides the line about Ye and Drake which I know is light but in context felt like a slight jab
