I meant lyrical spiritual miracle in the most surface level way tho.. like he became a caricature of that and himself as time went on

Definitely. I could hate on him all day so I'll stop cause I have to watch Shin.

The roots isn’t really funk but then again their whole thing is mixing in all kinds of sounds and and changing their vibe every other album

If we do the Searchers x Shin Gojira rec swap we should do an album rec swap too so I can make you listen to the Roots asap

Thinking of starting with things fall apart. And yes about to go smoke an L with the perfect cbd to thc ratio gonna put it on after! What would u recommend I listen to?

Def go with either Things Fall Apart or Illadelph Halflife

Then if you like the jazz/live instruments aspects of those albums go a few years back and check out Do You Want More?!

By then you probably have recognized their greatness and it’s whatever how you wanna go from there.. a lot of people consider their 2011 album Undun a classic but I wouldn’t jump in there since it A) isn’t an easy first listen and B) doesn’t reflect everything that a lot of people love about them

Especially when he had loosies and songs on the 8 Mile soundtrack better than some of the songs on The Eminem Show

    That was the scariest part

Rabbit Run was always my fav off the 8 Mile soundtrack

I didn't, until he apologized. I thought KOD & 4YEO were terrible and I stopped listening to Cole until that song with him, Travis, and Thug

I seen this clip interviewing with KD from years ago and it all clicked on the context of his career for me

You're entering into the arena that's my problem with Kendrick, relating Mr. Morgan to 4:44

Edit: of course LUST is better than a J. Cole song. To quote my Grandma, "it's the mixing of the blood"

My take is Cole has been confused by his career. He's so unsure that he moved through different stages of either not playing with the others, to playing to cliquing up to surrending and the base of it all that is insecurity. Instead of knowing his limits, he chased the two best rappers alive, I wish he did what he doing now back then cause he let his fans hype him up for nothing, he could have collaborated on albums and featured with the two, they could have taught him a lot

And it's quite apt for him and KD to be here together seeing as they are the same failure

It's not unfathomable, 4:44 is a failure and MMTBS outclasses it, which is shocking because kendrick is both younger and it felt too soon for him to choose this path. Jay will always be better but Kenny running laps around him artistry wise. You can't I am sorry away your wife breaking down on lemonade, bey gave it her all and because Jay is no longer human, he can't show that artistry and emotion, he's a lizard billionaire who been a snake

    Edit

If he doesn't do this right it's just another mid Em album like every one since Relapse and you could argue Recovery

Recovery was good he hasn't dropped a classic in almost two lifetimes, I honestly just miss him but he really lost it post his literally recovery
