Damn, you’re an OG! I have f***ed with him since Wolf era, and while Call Me underwhelmed me a little, I think The Estate Sale patched it up and sent that “era” off on a good note.
I remember him saying he was really inspired by MMATBS and I took the Sorry Not Sorry music video as him wanting to “kill off” his “eras” and personas and just be his more authentic self on a record, so that’s where I think he’s heading.
And if I’m right I’m really excited for it, because I think we’ve yet to hear an album where he’s really just being himself 100%.
Even Flower Boy, the closest so far, seemed dedicated to “cleaning it up” and s***.
I would be really interested in a record with less of an overarching theme too, like IGOR’s love and heartbreak, and Call Me’s travel and wealth talk. Just a splatter-shot of everything T is at the time and how he feels about things.

I thought the whole concept of Sorry Not Sorry visual was really dope and I’m excited to see where it’s heading

My wish as a fan is he goes in a more pop direction but in an authentic way, I think it’s time he makes legit accessible music but I don’t want him to abandon rapping or do weird voice stuff, if he’s gonna sing he has to step it up or stick in a lower range and when he goes higher use pitch effects but not in an obnoxious way more like Runnin Out of Time where it’s actually combining

And I hope with the long wait he’s going to do some amazing visuals too, wishful thinking maybe a full film

This is the first time since I’ve been a fan that he didn’t drop a full album every 2 years, because I don’t really count estate sale. But that tells me something huge is coming. And whatever it is I think it’ll be amazing. I just hope it kind of leaves a little bit of the “indie kid” aesthetic behind because it’s old atp but that’s me being cynical

That’s fair.
I honestly think he could make an amazing pop album, and imo there’s a need for lower register singers right now. Most of the big big acts are all high register.
I also agree that he needs to come with the visuals, but for me that’s always an expectation with Tyler. He’s so good at it that if he doesn’t deliver or if he delivers dookie it feels disappointing. Luckily that has happened so rarely I can’t even think of an example of it.
Honestly, whatever he does, I just hope it has a strong emotional core and pathos to it. I feel like he’s at his strongest when he’s channeling his emotions and helping you through yours with it too

What did you think of The Estate Sale?
I honestly think every song on it is better than most of base CMIYGL in one way or another, and since I don’t buy that they were “leftover” and I think that they’re newer, or at least finished/polished after the fact, that gives me big hopes for his next one.

Not looking for any emotions personally but maybe I just know that’ll be a natural part

I want his heart in it but I just want him to level up with the music

After the last 3 albums I never want to hear about his love life again. Like I’ll still take a love song or two but I will kill myself if there’s another love triangle narrative

the kicker is that the stans on here have been pushing the idea that Kendrick “cliqued” up with Metro and the rest of these niggas when Drake

• did two songs with Cole
• one song they sucked each other off the entire time
• did a joint tour
• Cole dropped a diss song that sampled IYRT, Drake had to clear that

so disconnected from reality
