When you’re 2 years old and you jump on a coffee table, someone tells you that you’re not supposed to jump on that coffee table. You jump on it because you don’t know that society views it as something you lay objects on and not for jumping on. But in reality, it doesnt really matter what the neutral object is used for. When we get older our world is filled with these coffee table rules and it’s used to control other people, to our detriment. When we grow up we have walls filled with these coffee tables. Thats what growing up is. When you see an adult jumping excitedly in public, when a « grown man isnt supposed to act like that » we are projecting our own wall of coffee tables on another person. Growing up should be tearing these imposed coffee tables down and not adding to our collection. Truthfully when I see people controlled by these coffee tables is breaks my heart a bit

Coffee table might not be the best example tho. Not being able to jump off a coffee table seems like a pretty valid rule if you dont want your kid breaking stuff or getting hurt

Whole Lotta fancy nothing, I still don't jump over no damn coffee table cause I wouldn't even need to jump over no damn coffee table where I grew up without being whooped to hell and eternity, terrible metaphor, for a terrible thing to defend.
