Yeah; I feel like Drake’s numbers/career will never be seriously tarnished by this.
His core audience doesn’t even care about hip hop like that.
I think worst case scenario for Drake is his reputation takes a blow and he is less respected by those more invested in hip hop.
Disagree imo the stakes are very much high.
Look at what happened to Cole, streaming numbers for might delete later fell off astronomically and he’s a laughing stock online.
The Respect angle would be the most effective because when it comes to numbers and hit songs, it's not even close. People forget that Drake has ALWAYS been a student of the game and he does value his place in hip hop. Yes he's got fans wio only listen to him not rap, and that's what comes with the territory of his stardom, but he still values the respect that comes with rapping at a high level.
Bro came up listening to Little Brother and Clipse ffs
Yeah; I can honestly see it now: Kendrick doing some type of unrequited love thing about Drake and hip hop
Watch try to insert himself one more time just watch...
“Move out of the way of my RELEASE!”
Drake audience doesn’t gaf he could do the most out of pocket s*** but hell still sell but his voice in culture going forward might disappear
Yeat wrote FATD the whole industry knows just doesn’t speak on it
Drake said out his own mouth they he sat and wrote for it with Yachty.
Disagree imo the stakes are very much high.

I pray his career never recovers

So cute

Yup
that cease and desist s*** not being cap is an L i'm sorry
Hold on we got proof that he sent a C&D now?
Its a lot of y’all who quoted lol I can understand why it can seem like a big deal but it just doubles down on a narrative everyone has accepted about Drake at this point, he don’t write his raps like that
It will sting if the news comes out but it won’t end him, he’s never been known as the rappers rapper
Is that a world tour or your girls tour

He'll be fine, career wise, but where do you even rank him now? If he made his own drums it would be easier
Disagree imo the stakes are very much high.

I agree that the stakes are high, I just don’t think the numbers will hurt for Drake.
Like, respectfully, Cole is more of a “rapper’s rapper” than Drake. I think Drake will see less of a hit, if he sees a hit at all, streaming wise if he loses, so long as it’s not humiliating like what Cole did.
To me, the stakes for Drake are in his pride and where he sees himself in the culture. Drake wants to be loved and respected by hip hop so bad, and I can see it stinging him sorely if Kendrick takes what he does have in that regard away from him.
Look who’s in the thumbnail
@Cole2
Good TikTok was falling off idk if this will bring it back, we’re outside this summer
Wow I have been SAYING THIS
People don't know real rap and are too low iq to get the genius of k dot (k god)
Dudes who actually care if rappers write their own rhymes have already made up their mind regarding Drake after the first time he was exposed
Exposing him for B2B will need to hit hard in order to convert people who are on the fence with him having ghostwriters
Then there’s the camp who don’t give a f*** they’ll suck off Drake no matter what he does
These shambles are hilarious to me because if Kendrick’s reply was bad
We wouldn’t be debating if baby keem wrote damn
Or if Kendrick’s wife is black enough
The magnitude of this song has the people against it reaching far and wide and none of their explanations involve the actual song
Disagree imo the stakes are very much high.

Cole’s audience intersects with Kendrick’s. Some casuals but made up more of actual HipHop fans. Them having writers or losing a beef hurts them. A large amount of Drake’s fan base won’t care because they were only introduced to him from his crossover songs. Some of them didn’t even listen to rap before listening to him. Different audiences.
Drake not writing back to back isn’t a nuke tho
It’s not as interesting of a conversation as what they really could be diving into about each other like their whole stance in the culture which they kind of been playing around with but there’s a lot that can be said that can create some real dialogue
That's a cap ass opinion, that was the guys moment of truth, we already don't trust him, that'd be very impactful
If this is what Kendrick is implying lolol depending how well he frames it and how true it is to the extent Nav helped…it’s gonna be a bloodbath in here. It wouldn’t matter how true it is actually bc people will run with it. and they’ll see this article and be like oh there’s some truth to it.

Nav produced the beat. He's in the credits
