This is a good response but I actually do believe actual rap fans opinions matter more than RYM, which is blatantly “I don’t listen to rap but…” types. I truly feel that those types are impaired in their ability to judge rap because of a cultural disconnect.

While Ye and Andre got some flack for sure, they were also lionized immediately, it wasn’t a revisionist thing where people caught up to the love below or 808s. Really it was more of a mixed reception from the jump with super purists not feeling it but the majority of the hip hop space still respecting the creativity and not really panning them for it

Common a different case because Electric Circus was actually panned and it still hasn’t fully come around and become loved or anything. Pitchfork gave it a good retrospective review but no one holds Common high for that album so idk about those examples really making your point

Fax no printer. Drake is fake and didn't start from the bottom yet People don’t get it Kendrick just at his crib right now w his kids watching Netflix and winning.

Drake pacing some room thinking about what wave to hop on next and how to force himself into that scene, how to respond to Kendrick, how to stay on top, etc.

Kendrick just drops a feature and it goes number one then disappears, unbothered

Sick and tired of the disrespect

Anyone else absolutely sick of the disrespect being shown to the boy after the kendrick verse dropped?
Many know me as a fan of the six god and that I rep OVO so they have been sending me memes and jokes I know they would never say to his face, or mine for that matter. I can't even get on social apps without seeing some sort of sneak diss and it honestly makes me want to delete all my accounts and throw up. Drake has given us so many hits and pores his heart out on his sleeve just to be treated like trash for his gifts. Especially after the disaster that came from the infamous leak even though many of us thought it was not bad.

Just want to know if anyone here is going through the same thing. Then again if it's so hard for me to even show my face I can just imagine how the boy feels so that gives me some optimism. I just hope drake is cooking something up so devastating so there is light at the end of the tunnel you know

And I feel that anyone who listens to primarily one genre of music, regardless of what it is, is going to be ill-equipped to judge experimentation within that genre when they hear it. That's true of rap, rock, country, folk, anything. It's always the purists of that genre who are the last to embrace change. I could name dozens of examples throughout music history.
