Every Drake release moves the culture.

Drake is the culture. That's what they're not understanding. When Drake moves, the culture moves. The most recent example being how it took a Drake diss team up album to create movement for those other guys

that isn’t what moving a music genre forward is

That’s just called making popular music

McDonald’s releasing the Travis Scott burger didnt move forward new recipes of food, it was just a popular burger based off something popular at the time (Travis Scott hype)

    Y’all kill me

I said impact culture. Stick to what I said.

No, it did well enough numbers-wise but you're lying if you try to claim it was anywhere close to being as impactful as DAMN, TPAB or GKMC. It didn't even land culturally as well as Section.80 did imo. The masses moved on from that album QUICK. It's Kendrick's worst-performing album since Section.80.

Again, you're saying it didn't impact the culture because it didn't sell well. Those are two separate ideas

No, it didn't impact culture because there are no standout records we kept going back to. That album doesn't get discussed. It dropped and people acted like it didn't happen. Compare the energy around that album to that energy around GKMC/TPAB/DAMN.

If you don't understand what I'm saying, that's fine.

impact the culture doesn’t mean it had big songs people knew from it

It impacted culture, which is my point. What was the grand significance behind Humble? Who cares? It impacted culture. Kendrick has failed to do that with his music in years. That's my point.

The thing that makes me doubt all of this is the Drake not sending his verse in. Why wouldn't he? He was totally fine with Cole washing him on his own track.

Because he sons Cole all the time and doesn’t see him as his true competitor. We all know Cole washed him and it didn’t move the needle in how we view his standing.

Don't let these pop fans that listen to Drake say anything about "Kendrick hasn't done anything for the culture in years" when we're currently in a thread discussing the biggest rap event in years that is because of Kendrick
