There’s tons of songs that become super popular despite having heavier subject matter. S*** like Pumped Up Kicks.

Are you seriously comparing Pumped Up Kicks with Mr. Morale

Yah We Cry Together, Crown, and Auntie Diaries are failed attempts at chart topping hits my bad

yeah I’m sure the obscure and experimental songs N95, Die Hard, Purple Hearts, Silent Hill and Savior weren’t meant to be hits

The problem bro was that the music was ass and that’s why the album isn’t charting anymore, nobody listening to that weak s***

There’s Future songs I could’ve pulled as well but that’s the first one to come to mind. Subject matter doesn’t matter when the music is good

Clearly it works a lot better than yours my guy lmaoo you said "buzz" "wave" "bigger" meanwhile don't wanna talk about numbers aka the actual measurements of representing popularity?.. make it make sense

Okay let me just concede to the dumb ass numbers thing, so you can address the initial point.

Drake finds artists who made a buzzing song on their own and hops on it to ride the wave of that song. Not an organic collab because he’s a fan of their music, but on some “that song is hot, let me get on it too.” Has done this more than any other artist I know. Does he not?

Majority of people listened to this song without even realising what it was about due to how upbeat and catchy it was. The sound of it contrasted the subject matter. MM does not do that
