Thats why i prefer it that way. You can be banned a ton cause sometimes you just need a timeout or you got unluckily and pissed off the wrong user or something. But you should never lose access to a community you've been a member of for years and years cause you did something dumb one too many times or a certain mod just didn't like you that day.
The "mute" makes it even more flexible now, and it should make the perma feel like even more of a last resort

Mute is a great feature especially since it can be for like 10 minutes
Also perma ban seems fairly pointless on this site now since alts are more tolerated
