Family Matters was dope. Put Drake on the board fs. Contained my personal favorite beat of the entire beef and did not waste it at all. Drake rapped his ass off. Two things tho:

1) Should’ve been aimed solely at Kendrick. If you’re gonna pull the stops out like this, don’t waste bars calling The Weeknd gay and dissing Rocky for impregnating Rihanna. Drake got caught up in securing the definitive hit that he lost sight of his real priority, Kendrick.

2) He should’ve known Kendrick would know that Drake would chase that hit out the gate… and that he would’ve had a plan to hijack the hype. At the end of the day Drake was never gonna win on bars alone, and he never had the red button tea that would supposedly end Kendrick, so without even an attempt to salvage a hit it was an obvious wrap after NLU.

But im here for the music. And Family Matters was a banger and my second favorite diss of the whole beef.

I go back and forth, the third one is insanely wavy but the second beat makes me feel like I’m watching a 1920s horror movie lol

I think he should’ve made the entire second beat at Kendrick and then used the third beat as a wavy victory lap.

Lack of focus took away from a good song

First time I listened to FM, I was confused for a second why Drake started to diss Rakim all of a sudden.
Then with the bars after that, it hit me that that's Rocky's name

yeah idk why he wasted the 2nd beat on the others when he already went at them on push ups, he flowed the best on the 2nd beat too

In hindsight, there are a lot of things that Drake could've done better with FM but he would've won most beefs with this track. I can't be mad at him for thinking that this is song is going to win him the beef.

It’s so Drake too, all of those strings compliment his harmony flow really well

Padding cuz he needed a song as long as euphoria with multiple beat changes but didn't have enough material for kendrick

Drake should've built a whole character study of Kendrick with the domestic violence allegations. The same way Kendrick did on MTG with Drake.

Everytime i want to compliment that song, I have to tip my hat to kendrick for playing it so well, that's the terrible legacy it'll always have apart from not being a nuke, drake must have been so defeated bro like WHY WON'T U DIE

Saw on Twitter someone saying that Kendrick is an easy target with the black Israelite thing, especially with the political climate we have right now but Drake just not politically smart enough to go into that

Drake doesn't have that in him, he tried to do it in the heart part 6 and it resulted in that terrible "MOTHER I MOTHER I" verse

That's where being the "surface level guy who makes bops" bit him in the ass. Doing something like that is out of his wheelhouse

I think he wanted to match Kendrick 6min song for 6min song. Can’t think of any other reason he would address the others besides padding the run time

But that was a stance on damn from cousin Carl, it would fall flat cause Kenny has never rehashed any of that. And he's not bulletproof but drake is just not a great rapper unless subbing wives is the play
