I know the other thread is treating TM as the catalyst of him losing but I think it’s really a symptom of the bigger problem which is him not treating this feud with the upmost severity. He approached it what I’d describe a Druski skit portraying a rap battle to be like, rather than treating it like his actual reputation was on the line. Think that’s the ethos of my issues with Drake over the last few years is that he’s gotten to the point where it became incredibly easy to push something out that would move units off of name rather than merit which intentionally or unintentionally creates this nonchalant attitude (for lack of a better term) that can turn people off of your music relative to the genre. I understand to an extent and people will grief him completely for it but complacency can happen to anyone. All in all even if he could do it over again and Kendrick came out on top, if he approached it with his all rather than as a side mission it would’ve been a lot better for him. He’s a true hip hop pupil he should’ve known better. Smh

Family Matters was his most focused, I just think no matter what kendrick was going to win, except for a really dismissive super super banger, he could have "won" through evasion but I'll never grieve for the fact that he didn't bring his best, this was easily the best rapping from him. The one persisting question, which era would have been difficult for kendrick to win fr, 2018 and 2016 was a gigantic year for drake, he could have drowned out kendrick

Damn, you still crying like a b****

And it's true, he could go the Drake route and get a Diamond plague.

    But he chose not to

Niggas' know who K-Dot is and he don't need crazy Pop appeal to have it.

The whites rejected drake pop ambitions, firmly believe hotline being destroyed his rep, it started being cool for even whites to meme drake and it wasn't just a black thing

Searching for rap fans sick and tired of Kendrick Lamar‘s irresistible”Not Like Us?” You won’t find them in the rapper’s native Compton.

Days after rocking the Kia Forum with his “Pop Out — Ken & Friends” concert on Juneteenth, Lamar filmed his “Not Like Us” at various landmarks in and around Compton, where more than 1,000 fans turned out for a chance to star in his latest music video. Over the weekend, the Pulitzer Prize and Grammy Award winner filmed at locations including Compton City Hall, Enterprise Park, Nickerson Gardens and Tam’s Burgers.

In photos and videos shared on social media, Lamar and “Not Like Us” collaborator DJ Mustard can be seen dancing to the song in front of Tam’s Burgers (previously featured in the L.A.-centric Super Bowl LVI set) as onlookers sing along. Another video shows scores of fans bouncing along to the hit’s catchy beat with Lamar near the Compton Courthouse.

Drowning out? That was around the same time as DAMN no?

Kendrick taking the W no matter what year ngl, being the better rapper from a technical standpoint (euphoria intro bro said more than drake said in all of push ups) really reallllly helps lol

because this tweet is from march, NLU was his 4th #1 after humble, N95 and like that and you know he was talking in the context of the beef

I don't know much about the chart you linked to, it's only accessible to people who are paying for billboard pro. But 4 #1s vs 20 #1s isn't exactly beating someone at his game

True. The fact that his red button was only joint tells you his mindset about this battle. His confidence leading up to Family Matters and his attitude after NLU is telling.

    Zack just likes arguing.
He's probably just lonely and craves any attention, even if it's negative. Block him and move on lol.

Beating him in what? This competition was never about getting #1 hits - at least not for Drake. Like That and Not Like Us were both made to appeal towards the charts. None of the Drake songs had that in mind
