CRACKASTEPPAVEGANNot gonna front, I still vividly remember the Carter 3 hype and how big Amilli/Got Money/Ms Officer/Lollipop were. It's hard to say since the streaming model wasn't available, but Wayne sold a million copies first week and the hype was truly EVERYWHERE. S*** was insane. That's why I think it's not entirely fair to compare Amilli to NLU for the simple fact that it was part of the whirlwind that was The Carter 3 album

The problem is that, if the Carter III or Graduation dropped today, Wayne and Ye would have filled up the entire top 10. But that would mean a lot of forgettable (from a mainstream POV) songs would be “top 10” tracks. Like, the fact that the Beatles filled the top 5 was a feat that stood for 50 years. Now, it happens with every Drake or Taylor drop. It’s just not comparable.

If either of those albums dropped, not a single song would be forgettable unlike the top 10 songs from any Drake album recently
