The album is about Kendrick feeling conflicted about his relationship with God

He questioning his beliefs he’s always had and exploring new beliefs and expressing anger caused by the confusion

Also when he dies at the beginning I always looked at that like a life flashing before your eyes moment and him a***yzing how he did in several areas of his life like was he too prideful, did he feed into his lust too much etc

There’s a lot more to it but its basically an album about religion and self criticism

Another funny aspect of this beef is Akademiks. People will say he’s a meatrider for drake, and yes that is his role he’s willing to play, but ironically he’s the best example of using drake as a stimulus package for himself. If you look at it closely, everything he has put forth is at the expense of Drake. Every time Drake took an L, there’s the Ak reaction that everyone is tuning into to visualize the L in real time. He’s a wrestling heel manager. He’s done lots of damage to drake during this beef.
