sell well” is a relative term in this music industry. . i don’t think most of the world is ready to have this conversation

But simply put every artist is not selling well because this industry did not have an ethical price point for whole sale of music - in the late 20th century it went haywire.

At the very end of the cd reign they were charging up to 14 dollars whole sale to record stores!!! How are fans going to continue buying & how is retail making anything off this?

Now when you look at streaming, this is all fugazi. Every single artist. Simply put - the music industry plummeted because people were charging close to and over 20$ for cd’s & the artists were seeing nothing, fam

And these record stores had to sell more & more shirts & bootlegs to just break even to pay their employees. That’s some game for you, Elemental

But streaming can’t be considered a metric in sales, fam. It’s just too manipulated now, it’s basura to even consider it

i’m going to make a post on billboard some day. Everyone has seriously been miseducated on this corrupt corporation

This whole industry is everything Prince, Peter Tosh & zappa told us from the jump.

Artists are meant to look like failures - especially independent labels

Why do you think in rap industry very few independent artists are represented in any of these bamboozled ranking charts ?

And when napster happened, consumers just sprinted to that door. Because the way it was going, people were going to pay up to 25$ + a cd.

This is how dumb the music business is, Elemental. They just constantly lie & most do not even begin to understand the truth. They just run with the narrative of someone being a failure & success by a fugazi streaming philosophy now
