That’s the thing. There are different types of artists. Ye isn’t a GOAT rapper because he heavily uses writers and always has. If you want to say artist then sure, that’s a better argument.

I guess my question is, if Ye calls himself the goat rapper and people generally agree he’s one of the greatest despite using ghostwriters, why is drake not for that same reason? i would understand if he couldn’t write and used writers, but like Ye he clearly can write and just chooses to have input from others. Which not necessarily to the same degree, but im sure Kendrick also receives input from other people in his circle on his writing too. And even if something is done without input from others in that moment, it’s created with someone’s else’s ideas that are constructed into your own thing, which is similar to having direct input, it just happened in the past. I guess my point is that art is a lot more like science than people realize, where 99% of it is built on the shoulders of giants beforehand and whether or not one person or 5 people made a discovery, it doesn’t change the significance of the outcome, considering the vast majority of the outcome came from people before them. As long as theyre not passing off other people’s discoveries as there own. At least in my opinion.

What's funny about this whole writing s*** is that I really do believe that most great MCs have written 80-95% of their s*** but you can't possible know for sure what goes on behind the scenes. It's rappers who have gotten lines from a friend who was in the studio who they never credited because that friend didn't even know they deserved a writing credit lol.

Man, I really wish when Combat Jack was still around. Around when the Meek/Drake battle happened, he laughed at the idea of any mainstream rapper claiming they ever wrote 100% of their s*** and admitted to personally knowing of tons rappers who made those claims but who he knew for sure had gotten help at one time or the other with stuff, despite them being gifted lyricists in their own right.

Just gotta leave folks to believe what they want to.

Show em when he breaks a record, he credits his many writers.

If it’s a collaborative process, show me where he splits his earning with those individuals, show me where he invites them on tour?

    Exactly lol.
